Rosepine coach Danny Fletcher earned his 1000th win as a high school coach tonight in a won over Oakdale, making him only the third coach in Louisiana history to reach that mark.
Fletch spent a good portion of his 40+ year career in Pitkin. I lived there for 7 years and was privileged to watch his teams play, including his outstanding 1998 team and his state title team in 2004. Just wanted to say congrats coach - you've done it the right way for a long time and you've earned it

His son was ice cold money in the 2004 Class B playoffs.
One of the most balanced and deep years in Class B history, before it became the atrocity that it is today. Kinda happy that Reserve was kicked out that year to allow another deserving team to win it.
Congratulations to him.

Yeah Daniel was always smooth for sure. Coaching himself now - I believe at Evans, but not positive about that. You should have seen him when he was in the 8th grade. Fletch would put him in toward the end of blowout games and he'd dribble circles around guys three times his size - then pull up and nail the three. Like you said, ice cold.
I miss those days...

I actually did a search after posting that and discovered that he is now coaching at a nearby school. That's awesome.
