Why should he thank Miami Heat fans?

Of all the expansion teams that were created since the 1980s the Heat have been the most successful. The winning was there before Wade was ever drafted.
I wouldn't necessary call 3 playoff series victories in 15 years "winning"

I don't get why he should thank them?

He is insinuating that Lebron needed Miami to win his titles. Lebron couldn't do it on his own and Miami helped by giving him a team to contend with. Therfore Lebron should thank Miami for helping him.

I kinda thinks it funny and I'm a big Lebron supporter.

I was mainly talking about the regular season. 8 playoff appearances in 15 years for an expansion team at that time was not too bad.

Why should the fans be saying "You're Welcome"? WTF did they do to get those 2 rings? Besides leaving early I'm game 6. Miami notoriously has the worst fans in sports. If anything the fans should be saying "Thank You". It's LeBron who should be saying "You're Welcome" for bringing that miserable fan base 4 great years and 2 championships.

LeBron is one of my favorite players, but man was it hard rooting for him while he was in Miami. Just because of those miserable, ignorant, spoiled, underserving fans. And this does nothing but build on that stereotype. Sure there are some quality Miami fans, but they are few and far between.

Is Lebatard really unhappy about this? The Miami fans are terrible, why does he need to thank them publicly.

LeBatard comes off looking like a bigger moron than usual.

Nah, he said specifically, this has nothing to do with any of that, he was doing solely for attention for the show. He's said many of times he's not going to say one negative word about lebron. This just came about during a broadcast, and it was more of big joke that turned into something they wanted to do.

I also have a sneaky suspicion based on the time line of that show that the Heat quietly fronted the money for the would be ad.

He's still bitter about Saban leaving Miami, so there's no way I believe that he isn't genuinely pissed that LeBron left.

eta: Even if he's joking about the add, I think he's genuinely pissed. And it comes off as childish conduct to me for a 'professional reporter.'

Probably bc at one point during the show yesterday, lebatard said he got a text saying "how much do you need?" and never mentioned who it was from.

He routinely mentions the texts he gets from members of the Heat organization as he gets em on air.

When the joke became kinda serious, he laughed as they were going to break and read a text that said, "how much do you need?"

They came back for the next segment, and all of a sudden they had secured all the funds already and they were already making calls to try and obtain the ad.

Specify how he does that. I hear him reference his rant he went on when Saban left but that's it.
