Great deal for the Yanks.

Warren showed some promise, but I think he's just the odd man out in New York. Tanaka, Pineda, Eovaldi, and Severino aren't going away, and they're all young.

Warren is forever a spot starter or long reliever in New York.

As for Brenden Ryan (the player to be named), he has much more worth on an NL roster. Great clubhouse guy, but not a guy that will be missed on the field.

I know Castro has some laziness issues, but the Yankees just got a talented starting 2B for two guys who I don't think were even that valuable to them. Good deal.

probably not a bad move for either team

Castro is a good player, but with Russel, Baez and Zobrist he is too expensive for spot play.

Cubs get a spot starter and reliever. I think they are putting a lot into the pen this offenses after they added Lacke.

Zobrist is such a great piece.

The Cubs will be so good next season.

This was a terrible trade for the Cubs. Sans the price trade a few years back.

The price trade

Huh?

And no. It's a position of redundancy it dumps salary and allowed the cubs to sign a super utility man.

Don't get me wrong I hate it because I'm a fan of Castro but it's not even a bad trade much less a terrible one.

Warren had a 2.2 era in 30 relief appearances last year. I'll take it!

Mets fans wanted Zobrist badly.

Absolutely. I think he signs a long enough deal that allows for deferring some money so if (and I am stressing if, because I do think the cubs might be being coy) money is tight they can put enough off until the tv deal comes through.

Obviously I haven't seen what the mets offered but the gm saying he's disappointed coupled woth reports that location and familiarity with joe played a bigger part than the money makes me think the cubs may have come in a few million light and still got their guy.

The Tampa one in 2014. Btw STARLIN >>>>>>>>Zobrist and it's not even close. How the frick is paying 34 yo Ben Fricking Zobrist $56M better than 25 yo Starlin who has 5 yrs $43M left. Zobrist may play a different position every now and again but its a terrible move by the cubs.

I'm assuming he wants something of the ten year variety so that makes since. The front office has been very discipline and strategic so far. I can't wait to see how we finish.

I'm as big of a supporter as you'll find for Castro so I don't take a lot of pleasure in saying this but at least for the cubs and this team you couldn't be more wrong.

You don't have to agree with that but I doubt you'll find anyone jumping on board with you.

Consider this. The mets, long rumored to be after Castro made zobrist their top priority this offseason...when Castro was more than available.
