That's a damn strong roster. They will add an elite SP to the mix before the deadline and be tough to beat come October.

Outside of the Mets, our rotation is up there with anyone in the league.

Jury is still out on the bullpen. Love the make-up of all the long-relief guys, curious to how Maddon utilizes them day to day.

Also really curious to how this team comes out this year. Completely different situation this year when expectations are sky high vs last year when it was "playing with the house's money". I think the character and make-up of the team plus Maddon won't make this an issue. But it's something to watch with the young team.

I think one important thing to realize is that there is still no pressure, really. Internally I'm sure they intend to make the playoffs again. But let's sort of understand that this team is still about a year or so ahead of schedule. Bryant, Schwarber, Baez, Russell are all going into sophomore seasons. This core is here with Rizzo, Lester, and hopefully Arrieta for a good while longer.

Eh, that changed when they spent this offseason. I agree with the sentiment, but you don't sign a 37 year old john lackey and a 35 year old ben zobrist (check me on those ages) and say 'what happens happens, but next year..."

ETA...make no mistake, failure to make the post season this year is a failure (post season is such a crap shoot i put no expectations on that).

I disagree with all that. Since the end of last year it's been all about WS. Bryant, Rizzo, etc have mentioned it a bunch in interviews this spring too.

They have WS aspirations and an entire city on their back. If season starts off rocky, they will feel serious pressure.

The window is now.

The way I see it is they have the ability to do it right now, but I won't be upset if they don't in 2016.

I am very interested to see how this team starts off the season. They've got some young guys entering their second season. They can downplay it all they want, but there is going to be some immense presure on this team, especially if they struggle and start slowly.

Probably same way as the weather. Miserable conditions, miserable results. Nice weather...nice results.

Yep. The ahead of schedule stuff gets erased when you have the kind of success they did last year

curious what they do with Baez and Solar, I know both are set for utility type roles this season but both are prime candidates to be moved at the deadline if the Cubs feel they need a piece as well.
