They need to play a lot better than they have the last 3 series. The Giants have a pretty soft schedule. if they can handle their business unlike us, I wouldn't be shocked at all if they passed us.

I'm a Cubs fan. So I'm already expecting the worst.

Is there a stat that exists that tracks how often a team gives up a run in the next half inning after they score? It seems like the Cubs have a serious habit of that the past few years.

They definitely don't believe in the shutdown inning.

This team plays down to competition.

I think that's a myth.

Cubs vs. Braves: 6-1
Cubs vs Reds 10-6
Cubs vs. Brewers: 9-4

And since you brought up the phillies. They went 12-3 coming out of the allstar break, so yea, while that was a terrible result it's not like the phillies weren't hot.

Some times you just lose games. I know it's the nature of being a cubs fan but the chance of making the post season is still over 90% and we've got people in this thread already preparing for the worst.

I feel like the Cubs have been worse than 10-6 against the Reds.

well it helped that we opened up 4-1 against them in april, back before everyone elevated their expectations and then went doom and gloom because we only have a 6.5 (7 games in the loss column) lead for the wc2 in september with 30 games left.

Pointless aside, but we haven' lost back to back games against the reds this season.

Giants lose...pirates swept by brewers. Magic number at 23.
