Alrighty then. Put 2001 Shaq on the 2007 Cavs and take LeBron off of that roster, how far does that team get? They'd have lost in 5 to Detroit.

ETA: LeBron could average 45/15/15 in a Finals series and that still wouldn't even be close to dragging that steaming pile of shite roster to the Finals. It was one of the most amazing feats in NBA history. Their second best player was either broken down Zydrunas Ilgauskas or Daniel Gibson.

Ok I'll explain again. When statistical comparisons leave players even or too close to call winning comes into the conversation to separate said players
You realize that statistical comparisons show lebron as clearly better than some players on your list of guys better than him? You even have Bird on your list who doesn't have more titles than lebron is and is statistically inferior to lebron. So...

LeBron was crowned King James before he even stepped on an NBA court. His hype far outlived his talent and IMO, he has yet to live up to the hype.

I take it you didn't know that MJ had to come out of a Finals game due to cramps as well?

You said Lebron hasn't lived up to the hype.

You said Scottie Pippen isn't as good as Kyrie or Wade, he's similar to Bosh.

You said that Lebron hasn't earned his hype and fame.

You just said reporters go easy on Lebron, when he has a strong case for the most heavily scrutinized ultra elite athlete ever.

You can keep hating Lebron because of his rookie shoe deal though, I guess

Fair enough! I don't remember but I take your word for it.

LeBron is a much less selfish player and really reminds me of a better version of Magic Johnson and I loved watching Magic and the Lake Show.

I just feel that MJ's killer instinct made him a better player. Because basketball was like life and desth to him. LeBron cares a lot but he's more of a team player and I respect that more but, it makes him a less great individual player, IMO.

Like I said I hated Jordan but I was far from the only one. But the way the Bulls dominated teams, you had to give Jordan credit that he was an extremely special player.

Hell some say Moses Malone was the greatest ever when he was young and they may not be wrong.

LeBron is a good dude, he's just a bit too sensitive. And to be fair, no one could live up to that much hype. I just don't like annointing people when they're still in the middle of something.

I don't dislike LeBron, I just don't like the way the media cheers for him, they should be impartial. And I don't care for his griping but he's a top 5 player and seems like a really good and caring guy.

LeBron has that too, just not in a meaningless regular season game in February. I can name three instances when he has shown that killer instinct:

1. 2007 ECF Game 5 at Detroit. He scored 48 points and swung the series by himself. Everyone remembers this.

2. 2012 ECF Game 6 at Boston. With Miami down 3-2 in the series, and the entire Heat experiment on the line, he flat out dominated the entire game. He scored 45 points, had 15 rebounds and made Pierce's life miserable.

3. 2016 NBA Finals Game 5 at Golden State. Down 3-1 in the series against a 73 win team, and a crowd booing him at every opportunity, LeBron scored 41 points, had 16 rebounds and sent a very clear message with an emphatic block of a Steph Curry layup that he wasn't fricking around. The Cavs dominated that game and went on to win the series.

If we're gonna say Jordan is better because he had that killer instinct in meaningless late regular season games, theb whatever.

Someone in this thread said LeBron doesn't care or isn't tough. They need to read up on how well he takes care of his body to extend his career.

Jordan never faced a Finals opponent who won 73 games.

All good, here's a link with the quoted excerpt:

LINK

I just think in the overall, if you're talking about cramps, especially leg cramps, no one can play through that. It's just not possible, so I don't know why anyone would hold it against Lebron to come out of a game with cramps. It's not like he didn't go back in hobbling on 1 leg and hit a HUGE 3 pointer either.

quote:

And to be fair, no one could live up to that much hype.
He's lived up to the hype times about 100, fwiw. 3 time Champ, 3 time Finals MVP, 4 time MVP, 2nd all time PER, career 27/7/7 on 50% shooting, going to finish his career at worst as the undisputed #2 player of all time, with an outside shot at #1. How can that possibly not be living up to the hype?

quote:

I just don't like the way the media cheers for him, they should be impartial.
MJ is kinda known as the one player that the media protected, maybe more than any player I can ever recall. And Lebron is kind of the opposite, the media is constantly looking for gotcha moments with Lebron. Just so you know that's not coming from out of nowhere:

For instance, the media protected the five-time NBA MVP more than they would like to admit. Jordan once asked beat reporters to avoid writing about the birth of his first child because it was before he married the baby’s mother. The reporters obeyed his wishes.

You think the media would ever obey Lebron's wishes to not print some sort of article about Lebron's personal life in today's landscape?

You're 100% right don't let these mentally challenged circle jerkers tell you different. Not one of them has made one factual statement or a single valid point. They all blow anything with Lebrons name attached to it and are the most basketball and sports ignorant humans you'll ever come into contact with. You will be doing your own intellect harm by conversing with such beings, my Dobermans are smarter than every one of them, but these guys are better at sniffing each other's asses.

Lmao! LeFlop has been hand picking his star studded teams for the past 8 years and only has 3 titles to show for it. Imagine if Jordan would have been teaming up with guys like Malone, Kemp, and Shaq back in the 90's.

And for some reason people just can't seem to have a logical discussion with him. No one is willing to seek common ground with him.

I wonder why.

What's that saying? If you run into an a-hole in the morning, you ran into an a-hole. If you run into assholes all day, you're the a-hole.

#2 is locked up, I wouldn't even field a debate on whether he's #2 or not, that's in the books already.

I'm with you on this. I think each successful season he has narrows that gap with Jordan. Last year with what he did against an all time great Warriors team was the single greatest performance in Finals history.

Jordan is still #1 for a career, but even he can't lay claim to that. Fact is LeBron still has many years left. What if he gets to 6-4? Even 5-4? Time will tell
