Not surprising, I am sure she is a Heat fan as well.

But no, Rice is nothing like your sister. She's a knowledgeable, avid football fan.

She has aspirations of being NFL commissioner one day.

Considering she represents all that's evil and wrong, this make sense.

Yesterday on Paul Finebaum's show, I heard someone point out that the reason Rice was chosen was so that she could be the face of the selection committee in the future whenever it makes odious decisions. This way, when the inevitable national outrage erupts after an obviously deserving team is left out of the playoffs, she will be trotted out to spin the committee's decision, something she has a lot of experience at.

And right on cue, I was once again reminded of Rice's ability to parse and obfuscate on SportsCenter, when she was asked to address her critics who have questioned her inclusion on the playoff committee due to her lack of football experience. She responded by pointing out that Pete Rozelle had never played football before he became the NFL commissioner. The obvious problem with the Rozelle comparison is that Rozelle was called on to be an administrator, not an analyst, which is what Rice is being called on to be. Furthermore, Rozelle, who unlike Rice was a jock in high school (baseball and basketball), spent 13 years in various sports management-type jobs, including with the Los Angeles Rams, being groomed for a job like being the chief administrator for the NFL.

Similarly, David Stern never played basketball before he became the NBA commissioner and Marvin Miller never played baseball before he became MLB's players' union boss, but they had each spent many years working in basketball management and labor unions, respectively. I would have no problem with Rice being chosen for some high level administrative job in college football, but chosing her to be on the playoff committee makes about as much sense as it would have made for David Stern to be chosen to coach the Boston Celtics or Marvin Miller to be picked as the New York Yankees director of scouting.

It makes perfect sense with Vagisil's sponsorship of the Alabama schedule. I see marketing opportunities.

Well here you have the beginning of the new problem. The BCS system took most of the observer bias out of the equation. Now you're seeing preferences of the people who will be making the decisions. This Committee is an end product of a politically correct knee-jerk response by the NCAA governing bodies.

How many times do I have to correct you on this? You're wrong. She lived in Tuscaloosa for 2 years. The family moved to Tuscaloosa when she was 11.

If you say she shouldn't be on the committee because she has no football experience, why aren't you complaining about Tom Jerstadt, Dan Radkovich, Mike Trangese, or Steve Weiberg?

Oliver Luck- played in the NFL
Tom Jerstadt- played college football, helped make NCAA basketball tourney what it is
Dan Radkovich- meh no football experience, but LSU ties
Mike Trangese- only legit experience with this is basketball playoff committee
Steve Weiberg- Actually a sportswriter of football for 30 years

So yeah, most of those names easily have more football "experience" than her
