CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying - Guatemala v USA

The match is at 10pm eastern tonight. The US has only won once at Guatemala, a 1-0 friendly victory in 1988. The most recent result was a scoreless draw when we played them in qualifying for the 2006 World Cup after we had already advanced.
The first two matches in this group stage of qualifying are on the road, with this game at Guatemala and a game at Cuba on September 6th. Getting a minimum of 4 points out of those two matches would be a good start to advancing out of the group stage of qualifying.
Who's watching tonight, and what score do you have? Can the MNT finally start finding the back of the net again (the home drubbing of Barbados notwithstanding)?
Here's the roster, with only Onyewu carrying a yellow card into the match. Sorry, couldn't find a starting lineup.
GK - Guzan, Howard
D - Bocanegra, Cherundolo, DeMerit, Hejduk, Onyewu, Pearce
M - Beasley, Bradley, Edu, Kljestan, Lewis, Mastroeni
F - Ching, Donovan, Dempsey, Johnson

2006 world cup... he was a freaking statue out there...

I'm not a huge Donovan fan but our only player worth a shite during the last world cup was probably Dempsey.

Pretty sure he went back there after the olympics. He's on a year loan from Benefica to AS Monaco in the French Ligue 1.
If we don't see at least some of the other younger players in the group stages of qualifying, I'm going to be pretty upset. This core group has shown over the past six years or so that they are not able to compete consistently in international competitions.
It's probably safe to say that both Bradley and The Gooch will get carded in this match, and if that happens then Onyewu will be suspended for the match against Cuba.

I'm getting tired of Bob Bradley, he is proving to be the same coach as Bruce Arena imo

he is a little better than Arena, but I wish he wouldn't choose really old strikers like Ching for qualifying matches when this is a perfect opportunity to get someone like Kenny Cooper or someone else.

I'm giving Bradley this World Cup cycle to show what he's got, and it's really probably too late to do anything different at this point anyway. However, if we don't at least get to see what some of the new blood can do in the real, high stakes, most important international action (even if it is just CONCACAF qualifying) and he insists on sticking with the same old business as usual, I'll be one of the first to hold the door for him on the way out.

We need to have the young players in there, Adu and Altidore should be there, Robbie Rogers should probably be there. PLus we need defenders that aren't shitty.

We've basically pwned them in the last decade, so I'm not sure what the hell happened with the seeding last time. Probably some FIFA political BS.

Rag on Donovan all you want, but he is still our best player.
