LOS ANGELES (TICKER) —Marvin Harrison’s days in Indianapolis appear to be numbered.

The Colts are expected to release Harrison before free agency begins next week, according to a report by the NFL Network on Thursday.

If the report is true, the move would end one of the most prolific passing combinations in NFL history.

Three-time MVP Peyton Manning and Harrison hold NFL records for most completions (971), yards (13,090) and touchdowns (110) of any quarterback-wide receiver duo.

But Harrison, 36, has lost a step and cutting him would save $7 million against the salary cap.

The Colts signed cornerback Kelvin Hayden to a five-year deal worth a reported $43 million on Wednesday and need the salary cap flexibility.

Harrison has spent his entire 13-year career in Indianapolis. He passed Cris Carter last year for second on the all-time receptions list with 1,102 catches.

An eight-time Pro Bowler, Harrison played in just five games in 2007 due to a knee injury. Last season, he caught 60 passes for a career-low 636 yards five touchdowns in 15 games.

The 19th overall pick of the 1996 draft, Harrison has 1,102 catches for 14,580 yards and 128 touchdowns in 190 games with the Colts.

He has become expendable with the emergence of third-year wideout Anthony Gonzalez, who caught 57 passes for 664 yards and four TDs last season.

Is this related to the gunshots in Philly outside his Car wash?

My guess is it's related to him being a shell of himself.

Harrison, 36

Damn. I didn't realize he was that old. I would have guessed at least 30-33. I was about to say about Mannings age but he's what 34?

He isn't $7.6 million a year productive anymore. The last time he had a 100 yard receiving game was December of 2006

He's normally a touchdown machine. Whoever signs him will get a hell of a pick up.

Well they picked up Gonzo from OSU a few years ago, and pairing him with Wayne and Clark, they have a great group already. Time for them to sign a WR in the 2nd or 3rd round this year and make him the 3rd wideout and they'll be good to go

I see Philly going after him. Would fit in great with Jackson and Brown.

I was shocked there hasn't been a "Dallas might get him because he shot someone lolz" thread.
