The main issues with college basketball are:
- A lot of teams just don't know how to attack a zone. It's mostly guys swinging the ball around the perimeter for 30 seconds.
- Speaking of, the shot clock is way too long
- Too many god damn timeouts and commercials
- That god-awful block/charge call

southern actually won a game in the tournament 20 years ago if it makes you feel better.

Also switch out of halves to quarters

Then don't watch it.
I love college basketball. Mainly because it's collegiate sports. There's nothing like it.

I love watching the tourney but I agree. The quality of the play is horrible compared to what it used to be.
I used to look forward to the tourney with great anticipation. The last few years not so much.
The fundamentals of the game seem to have gone by the wayside. Postmen don't know how to start a fast break and instead try to dribble the length of the court and either have the ball stolen or lose the dribble themselves. Layups and simple shots from 10-15 feet seem to be nearly as challenging as shots from 25 feet used to be. Both the UNLV/Cal game and the Arizona/Belmont games were good examples of this. It felt like I was watching what would have in the past been not very good high school teams.

this is really my only complaint with college basketball

Neverind the quality of play, what about the deluge of commercials and the endless analysis by those four idiots in the studio. Didn't CBS broadcast much more game action back in the day?

College basketball referees are atrocious, inconsistent and prohibit games from having any flow.
An overlooked point.
The officiating in the Gonzaga/Southern game was alarmingly bad. If I was a Gonzaga fan, I would have thrown the TV out of the window.

no shite....Its fine if you just simply prefer CBB to the NBA, but you're flat out lying if you said college basketball is a better product.

It's a much worse product than the NBA

I enjoy the tournament because I'm a sports fan and growing up I absolutley loved it. However, the product on display yesterday, and most of this season, was atrocious. These guys can't shoot, they have no basketball IQ, and it looked like the effort was often lacking even at times when teams should have been showing all kinds of urgency.

The NBA is putting forth its best product in years.
I assume that by 'in years' you mean 'in 5 years'. There was nowhere to go but up.

The best teams also happen to be the only ones that are allowed to defend.

Oh, and college games also happen to be blatantly influenced by referees -- see the Cal-UNLV game.
College refs are frequently bad. NBA refs make calls for the team they want to win.

how many free throws did the Lakers shoot that time in the 4th qtr of the conf. finals against the Kings?

it can go on and on. all of the sports have cheated one way or another. you can say the same about baseball, Nascar, or any of them.
follow the money to find the cheaters.
