It could be where they offer a payout to go to school or even partner with the NCAA/SEC to force historically white schools (see: Ole Miss/LSU/Bama/UGA,South Carolina) to offer free tuition to those minorities who skipped college and went straight to pros and failed - sort of an affirmative action in sports if you will.

If I recall the numbers correctly, MLB has only something like 5% black ball players in the bigs; the Latin American players are the second highest racial group after anglos. So, using your "logic", lets force MLB to draft & promote more blacks to the big leagues. And since you're into affirmative action, force MLB to pay them millions in contract money whether they have any talent or not. You're big on giving something of value to those who have not earned it, but in most sports, pro sports in particular, one's talent pretty much trumps race in every instance. Does the number 42 mean anything to you at all? He earned his way onto the diamond.

My point exactly. As I type this, I'm watching (outside my office window) a few young African-American men (whom appear to be about 17-20 years old) walking down the road in Jackson and all I can think is how they don't have a fighting chance. I hope you elites remember this when you go to bed at night. These young men could have been excellent professionals in baseball.

I'm all for diversity on the board, but "progressive" measures such as the one OP suggested are typical of the race-baiting left who take it upon themselves to give away what is not theirs to give, and they could have never earned.

Affirmative Action for college sports teams, are you insane? I say that in jest, because I'm sure you're completely serious, as all liberals are when it comes to asinine policies similar to what you suggested.

Just because someone comes from less privileged (whatever that even means) doesn't mean a decision to play professional sports (aka get skill job after high school instead of college, something many people do and are successful) is a risky move.

If you really live in Jackson, take a look around. I don't care what race you are, Jackson is a cesspool of liberal measures taken to an extreme with absolutely nothing to show for it.

You want to take this into sports teams, because your state's flagship baseball team has only one black person?

The basketball team is a heavy majority black, I am sure. Same as the football team.

To end, I ask a question to the OP, just because I am curious. How much is enough? What exactly can we do to make amends for the "1950's" as you put it?
