Clemson has filed against the ACC in Pickens County, South Carolina, a source confirms to ESPN. This is the second lawsuit that the ACC faces, as Florida State and the ACC currently have dueling lawsuits.

Super Conferences here we come

They should sue their coach for being an idiot that sacrifices his team's success because of his "principles"
Posted on 3/19/24 at 10:59 am to medium rare
What does that even mean

Not a Clemson fan so I am not melting, but they went from being at the top of college football to now mediocre bc Dabo refuses to get with the times.

quote:Dabo is famously against NIL and the transfer portal. So Clemson is falling behind their competition that embraced both of those things.

Where did Dabo touch you?

These "super conferences" are going to blow up in the schemers' faces. As they resemble more and more multi-national corporations rather than regional, geographic based associations; fan support will dwindle. If (and that's a big 'IF') college football even exists in 30 years, I bet the new thing will be a break-up of super conferences into smaller entities.

It's interesting that the SEC and Big 10 are taking wholly different approaches to expansion.
The Big is clearly interested in adding big brands wherever it can and be a true national conference.
The SEC is staying far more regional and focused on keeping major regional rivalries together as much as possible.
It's interesting to watch from that perspective.

The Big Whatever has the number eyeballs in their favor, but the SEC has the talent. No sense in expanding outside of where the majority of the talent exists.

It was always going to happen. They’re both coming

Guess you just ignored the part where Clemson graduated from mediocrity to dominance because of Dabo?

And now back to mediocrity because of him

I disagree...because when expansion is over, the "Super Conferences" will have divisions that are regional in nature. Lets say for example the B1G adds Notre Dame, Florida St, Virginia, North Carolina, Duke and Miami. That gets the conference to 24 schools. The B1G can then divide into 3 divisions EAST, CENTRAL and WEST.
B1G East: (Looks a whole lot like the old ACC)
Rutgers
Penn St
Maryland
Virginia
North Carolina
Duke
Florida St
Miami
B1G Central: (Looks a whole lot like the B1G)
Ohio State
Notre Dame
Michigan
Michigan St
Indiana
Purdue
Northwestern
Illinois
B1G West: (PAC/B1G even split)
USC
UCLA
Washington
Oregon
Nebraska
Iowa
Wisconsin
Minnesota
People need to realize the media and networks are the ones driving this. The simple reality is that it COSTS the networks money to show Oregon St vs Washington St on TV. It COSTS the networks money to show Boston College vs Wake Forest on TV. At least at the current pay out. This is the networks realigning the programs that make money vs the programs that dont make money. The SEC will pick up Clemson, NC State, Virginia Tech and probably a few more Big 12 schools in Texas. B1G/SEC will both have 24 schools...introducing the "CFP TOP 48" era.
