More lineup changes tonight...

What the hell is going on with Mike Olt already? He had 2 AB's late last night and played the field but he can't start over whatever corpse this Herrera guy is at 3B?
I'm convinced that Kris Bryant will be called up on Friday.

So confusing...pinch hit Sunday, originally penciled in Monday and then was a late scratch before first pitch, didn't play Tuesday and then had 2 PAs last night. I assume Maddon only thought he would get one PA, but nevertheless had 2.
God I hope so. Seems like the Cubs might be "forced" into doing it with Herrera continuing to play.

This made me laugh...

The Reds might have the worst bullpen in history, save Aroldis.

Man, I thought he was going to blow it last night too. The pitch he struck out David Ross with split the plate in half. Not sure what the hell Ross was looking for in that spot. Olt had a really good pitch to handle as well, he just missed it.

Yeah, and the decreased velocity has got me worried too. Although he still has been pretty dominant thus far.

He still looked to be throwing pretty hard to me. That last pitch he struck Olt out on was clocked at 100 mph.

I think he hit 100 once or twice, which is still fast AF. Last season he was hitting 102-103 pretty regularly. Maybe it's just early in the season, idk. I even think I heard the Cubs guys making a comment about it too.

Well they did laughingly say that his average fastball velocity is down to 99. I'm not sure what it was previously. I would find it hard to believe his AVERAGE fastball velo was 100 mph or higher.

The Cubs have done a nice job hitting against former Cubs this year (Hawkins, Gregg) so I expect tonight to be an offensive explosion.
Also, I'm convinced that Kris Bryant isn't coming up until Monday in Pittsburgh. Not only because of management's track record for bringing guys up on the road, but also because of the possibility of there being a tie at the end of the regular season, extending the season a couple days. Can you imagine if that one tiny oversight cost the team control for a year? I have a feeling this is part of the plan.

*(As we discussed yesterday, there is some debate about whether a tiebreaker game 163 would extend the year for service time purposes, meaning that calling Bryant up on Friday would be a risk. From a reading of the CBA, and from asking around, my understanding is that a game 163 does not extend the season for service time purposes. But, because there is a credible report out there to the contrary, I’m just going to leave the issue alone for now. We’ll cross that bridge again only if Bryant is actually called up on Friday, which, as I’ve said, I’m not necessarily anticipating.)

I can 100% assure you that there will not be an oversight. If they decide to bring him up on Friday it would be incredibly well thought out and their executive decision to do it.

My point exactly. Every decision is calculated and thought out more than you and I can imagine. That's why (assuming game 163 is indeed a service time issue) I think the plan is to bring him up Monday.

Olt is not totally healthy.

We had a 4 man bench last night, forced Olt to play. He didn't look good at all at the plate. I can't tell if it was a health issue or him just being Mike Olt.

Now mendy is ag 3b and Herrera is at 2B.

His wrist is still bothering him.
I am pretty disappointed that Olt and La Stella could not stay healthy in some of the time we had to try out some 2b and 3b options.
