Congrats to @ChrisVernonShow - he's a talented guy and we can't wait to start working with him.

Vernon will host one college football podcast and two NBA podcasts per week from September through December, according to Simmons, and three NBA podcasts per week from January through July. The NBA podcasts will cover a wide range of topics, with contributions from executives, players and media members throughout the league. The college football podcasts will examine the sport from a gambling perspective, Vernon said.

Verno is somebody I felt deserves a national gig for a long time. He's been on the radio here in Memphis for almost a decade. I think the MSB is really going to like him.

Some of the hits:
Col Reb is crying
Ballad of Bobby Petrino
Masters Updates
Runaway Lane

His interview with ZBo about his near fight with Kendrick Perkins:
quote:

Could you whoop his arse?
"Hahaha. I'm good with these hands. I'm a jacking dude. I'm pretty good with these hands. Every day I came out the house, I had to fight, so me and my brothers. … I'd say [I've probably been in] too many fights to count. Probably about 30 or 40. We're talking about, like, from middle school and freshman year, mainly when I was young."

Does this mean he's not gonna return to radio in Memphis? Sounded like the station did him dirty.

He tweeted today that he is staying in Memphis and along with staying on with the Grizzlies TV crew he will be doing something locally.

Verno! These last two weeks have been hell without his podcast at work.

Vernon is good in what limited appearances I've ever heard him...hope he's an ultra left wing borderline communist or he isn't going to fit in very well at the ringer.

Pretty sure he is like a radical moderate. He had Clay Travis on weekly and I've heard him bitch about how all of friends that cover sports are all super liberal.

Good, Hopefully he'll be able to bring a non left wing perspective to that site. For the life of me I don't understand why these sites don't employ lett AND right wing writers and podcasters...you're basically cutting off half of your audience.

I am so pissed they dicked him around. I've been listening ever since I moved to Memphis in 2006. Glad he got picked up. I will definitely be getting all his podcasts!
