Roark has been putting up high strikeout numbers but he's been getting hit too. We need to get back on track

Hopefully the professor can keep his strong starts going. The versatility of the roster continues to amaze me.

Yesterday stung a bit.... the only team with a pulse we've played got us good. let's hope we can get this Nats series and I'll feel better about this team. If not I think we're the same team prior to the ASB who was whooping on poo teams. Doesn't mean we can't win the division tho.

Really need the Professa of last year back, the Nats lineup is loaded and their guys don't have all the pathetic BA's our guys do. Need the Prof to come strong.

Love Jay in the leadoff...either he or Almora need to be there, not a fan at all of Zobrist in leadoff.

Yeah, Zobrist's dropoff was easy to see coming with his age. Jay is going to be an important piece for stability and clutch situations in the playoffs.

Man Edwards has been the shits lately.
Do they send him down for a bit so he can remember how to come in and pitch?

That Schwarber at bat was one of the most frustrating things I've seen all season. Multiple middle of the plate, rising fastballs that he just couldn't catch up to, but swung at every time.

When the Cubs signed Zobrist to the 4-year deal, my take was that's a bit long for someone of his age but if he helps win a WS it would be worth it.

Well, he did....but as you say we see the inevitable decline. I will say it has come more quickly and severely than I'd even thought it would...but yes it was inevitable.

He is a liability in the field at pretty much any position he plays so when he's hitting below .220 as he has been most of the year, he really is a minus for the team. And hitting him either leadoff or 4th as Joe has most of the year further hinders the situation.

Today's lineup
Edwin Frickin Jackson throwing for Washington. The Cubs oughta score 10 runs before the 4th.

Official prediction: Jackson goes 7 scoreless

It seems we all felt the same way. We knew he could be a key piece to a 'ship but the contract numbers were eventually going to look bad.

Good thing the Cubs are in a large market or that contract would've thrown a wrench into plans somewhere.

On the plus side, he's had his PT slashed for most of the year in favor of the development of Happ and Baez and hasn't complained as far as we know.

We all know how bad Jackson can be so today needs to be a day to get the offense back on track.

John Lackey still sucks at throwing baseballs in the direction of hitters.

This might be the worst pitching matching between two teams vying for the playoffs I've ever seen. With that said, I fully expect Jackson to go 7 scoreless.

It's not a Lackey start without a 1st inning solo.

Whenever he starts, I automatically count the cubs down 1-0.
