On a side note, how fun would it be for the Cubs to bring him or Vogelbach up for the AL games?

I'd be for that. But It'll be baez...maybe even move castro to DH for those and let russell take some games at SS with baez at 2b.

Zimmerman and Scherzer pitching today for Nats. Means we'll miss one or both in our next series.

Hendricks needs to stay on his heater and clinch this series.

Rizzo's numbers against lefties this year are absurd.

His OBP is now close to .600 vs lefties.

Deshaies was saying it was the highest OBP against lefties since 1974. They did not keep track of OBP before 1974.

well last night was a stinker. Thought Kyle was going to be able to work out of it, but alas. Hopefully the bats wake up today.

I don't want to mention baez's two bombs last night because i'd hate to steal AJF's thunder.

look at the bright side...more mike baxter maybe.

With that said, lake has looked a lot better this year, which admittedly says almost nothing.

And at least it's not his hamstrings.

Mike Baxter was recalled. There are a whole host of decisions the Cubs can make with Soler out possibly 6 weeks. With them preaching versatility, they can do a lot of things. Right now Junior Lake will replace Soler in RF. Baez moving to 3B tonight for Iowa could mean he sees time there in Chicago soon with Bryant moving to LF. You still have Soler's bat missing in RF, so I wouldn't hate a Schwarber callup even if it's for the duration of Soler's DL stay. Kinda like what the Rangers could do with Gallo.

We also have 3 interleage series coming up this month too. So essentially 2 lineup spots are open with Soler out.
