Let's talk about some amazing stuff. First, the Cubs had gotten the Brewers pitching to throw over 100 pitches before they even got an out in the 4th inning. The Cubs walked 6 times into the 4th inning. The Cubs, by all intents and purposes, should have won that game 10-3. Kris Bryant and Miguel Montero both should be ashamed of themselves for not getting a run in with the bases loaded and less than two out.

The approach at the plate for this lineup is so far advanced for the young first year players that make it up that I really don't know how to describe it other than...wow. The Cubs had 7 BB and 3 HBP last night...that's 10 free baserunners. 10!

Can we talk about umpiring behind the plate? What the hell was that schmuck looking at on the Soler third strike looking? That thing was 5" off the plate and low. I feel like Soler gets a real raw deal in more of his AB's than the norm. And he's still been showing a great deal of patience.

Starlin played some 2B and looked really good. Hat tip to Dan Haren for a good performance. Hopefully he keeps it up through the end of the year.

I screamed at the ump on that soler strikeout

Just because the guy hits the catchers target doesn't mean it's a strike ump

Who ends the season with more HR this year? Bryant or Schwarber?

Bullpen was solid as usual. Their turnaround signals to me that this team is capable of a postseason RUN not just an appearance

For such a powerful young lineup the patience from top to bottom is really cool to watch. This 2 week homestand couldn't come at a better time

Castro playing 2nd makes me think an August trade could be looming.

Seriously, I feel like the wind has not blown out once this year.

I discovered @Cubsump on twitter a few weeks ago. Great follow.

Soler had 2 called 3rd strikes against him last night. One was 5 inches off the plate, other over an inch.

I think it's more that Russell is our shortstop, until death do us part.

Tommy La Stella was actually activated from the 60 day DL yesterday and sent to Iowa. If Chris Coghlan continues to put together great AB's and play serviceable defense at 2B, I can't see keeping him out of the lineup. Although I don't necessarily agree with him hitting 3rd, it's kind of worked out so far.

Ok. While watching Strop and Arrieta the last couple days I can't help but think...How badly did we fleece Baltimore in that trade? Sent Feldman (who I believe they just rented), Steve Clevenger, and cash for Jake Arrieta and Pedro Strop.

Arrieta is clearly the best pitcher on our staff this year, and a legitimate Cy Young candidate. Strop, although sometimes a little wild, has incredible stuff and is a very good late game guy. What a deal

I'm with Toula and think it's just that russel is SS (the position he's best suited to play anyway) and castro will be our 2b vs. lefites and replace hererra as the defensive upgrade against righties.

Soler has had a terrible strike zone this year. Not sure why he's getting screwed so badly but it's pretty obvious.

I really wish he'd get just a bit of uppercut in his swing or hit the ball with backspin because he could hit some mammoth home runs if he did. Instead he's up there trying to kill pitchers. Seriously though, I though jungman would be dead on that come backer.

I was in St. Louis for the Cubs/Cards game last year when he hit two at Busch. They were mammoth HR's. I was at Zephyr Field when he hit a looooong HR last year for Iowa. He's got a lot of power in his swing. I think he's going through an adjustment period. The power will most definitely come. It's there...just waiting.

Essentially, the Cubs gave up a rental pitcher and a backup catcher for their future No. 2 starter and setup man. Of course, as is the case with most of these trades, neither team knew how it would play out. Now that we can see how it’s played out, though, everyone can see what a steal this was for the Cubs.

Feldman went 5-6 with a 4.27 over the remainder of 2013 after being acquired by the Orioles and then left via free agency in the offseason. Clevenger has played in just 43 games for the Orioles since being acquired from Chicago.
