Too bad we couldn't have skipped Hammel's start

I see hammel has spotted one of the shittiest teams in the NL 2 runs right away. Just tuning in. If we struggle to take 2/3 in this series i'm gonna puke.

No faith in any pitcher not named arrieta or Lester right now. Hammel
Just erased the 4 runs offense put up for him after he spotted the Brewers 2 in the 1st inning.

Another starter, and probably 2, has to be a top priority for Theo this winter. I'm thrilled this team will be playing playoff baseball this year, but I just don't see them competing very well in a post season series unless they're just killing the ball.

Just curious as to what team sets up better in a playoff series?

This makes absolutely no sense. Cubs just beat the Cardinals 2/3 in STL, took 3/4 from the Pirates and took 2/3 from the Cardinals at home. Do you actually think those two teams are licking their chops hoping to get a chance to play the Cubs in a post season series?

Do you also think it requires 4 aces to win a playoff series??

I'm not saying they can't do it. But the playoffs are a different animal than the regular season.

Well, no. But it would help if your 3 and 4 were able to get a quality start every so often.

The Yankees won the World Series with a 3 man rotation fwiw.

The Dodgers. And possibly the Pirates if we're talking 1-4.

But comparing rotations is kind of pointless. Pitchers don't face each other, they face the other team's lineup. If we face the Cardinals in the LDS, we'll have to pitch very well every night. We can't afford a Hammel or Haren dud.

Cool. Who is the Cubs' 3rd right now?

I don't see why that matters. You think the Yankees swept all three series?

I think the Cubs will win the WC game and the Cardinals and Cubs will have an epic NLDS.

I miss back when the wild card couldn't face a team from their division in the DS.

Because I don't like the Cubs chances if they're going to rely on only winning the games Arrieta and Lester start. Yes, they could win the world series that way, but the easier way would be to have really good 3 and 4 starters to rely on should a team beat Arrieta or Lester. That's all I'm saying. Hammel was throwing well enough earlier in the year and Haren has the ability. They just haven't gotten it done much lately.
