FSU was the preseason number 1 and they haven't lost. No way they are not 1.
This is the mindset that I can't comprehend. WTF does a preseason ranking matter? I wish no polls would come until mid season. I know that will never happen but preseason rankings only skew the end of season rankings. While I don't fully agree with the committee's rankings, I applaud the fact that they are looking at each team's body of work. In the past, voters just ranked teams in the preseason based on media hype. It was far too hard for teams to move up b/c of preseason rankings.
The 2004 season is a perfect example. Auburn started the season #17 and was stuck behind USC & Oklahoma all season even though they had more quality wins. Auburn had a pretty weak OOC so there is still an argument for them to have been left out. However, I remember watching the talking heads basically shrugging their shoulders at Auburn's situation back then b/c there preseason ranking screwed them. If they started the season at #1, they would have gotten into the BCSCG. I believe OU had 2 wins over the final 25 teams. Auburn had 4 (5 if you count the bowl game).

But wouldn't you also agree that if Oklahoma State, Notre Dame and Florida were all ranked in the top 15, FSU would be #1, despite their close wins.
Yes.

A similar thing could have potentially happened in 2010 when Boise State started out #3 and Auburn started unranked. There was a lot of controversy when Boise State entered November ranked ahead of an undefeated Auburn, but then Boise State s**t the bed, and then it was a mute point. That year I was really curious to see Boise State finsh the season undefeated to see how things would have played out. Can you imagine the outcry if a WAC team had gotten in over and undefeated SEC team?

I want an undefeated FSU to drop out of the top 4 to see Danny Kannell lose his mind on national television.
Georgia Tech 41
FSU 27
We won't have to worry about dat.
