SIAP.

Thought this was interesting. The tournament itself is meaningless, but it will be cool to see if this changes the game. I've always thought 35 was way too long.

That may be better, but I think 30 seconds is too long too.

I think 30 is fine. I don't see any need to go down to the NBA shot clock.

Isn't the NIT doing this too? I know the SEC teams used it in exhibition games before the season and I enjoyed it.

eta: Chillini beat me to it

i'd rather see this in the month of November... that way the 30 second shot clock has the best coaches and players against it... seeing what it does to CBI and CIT teams is meaningless

I'm not sure it will make the games better. The teams are accustomed to a different set of rules and don't have time to adjust.

I assume the idea is to punish teams who slow down the pace of the game, but there's still no upside. Like any sport, casual fans aren't interested unless there's a lot of offense and real fans appreciate strategy, defense, etc.

The CBI will never appeal to the casual fan no matter how much they open up the offense, so they might as well leave the rules alone.

They still have time to run their offense, they just can't go through 8 different options of their motion offense, they can only get through about 6 or a few sets.

I don't think it will have hardly any impact, teams rarely use the full 35 as it is unless they are a team like Wisconsin that milks the shot clock.

NIT and CBI are both being guinea pigs for the NCAA to try out this before implementing the change. Same thing happened with the arc under the hoop. It is not a punishment to teams that slow it down. Offense is down and the pace of play is slow. They are trying to push the pace a bit quicker and increase possessions per game.

Shot clock needs to be 30 seconds

Increase the foul disqualification rule to 6 fouls

Increase foul bonus and double bonus by one foul

This would be much better overall for men's bball

I wonder why FIBA can't get together with the NBA and NCAA and just come up with one set of rules for global basketball.

That makes sense.

I'd like to see them do that with the bowl games in football. One change that would be cool is if you score a defensive touchdown, you get the ball instead of having to kick off.
