Doesn't Haywood have a terrible contract?

Its the 10 or so million in cap space a team can save if he's cut by August 2nd that makes it valuable

Is it really that great with the cap going up next summer?

It's an expiring contract that someone will buy out.

Did Haywood play a single minute this year? What a joke of a contract.

Not really. Expiring contracts aren't worth what they used to be. It doesn't hurt and there is some value, but with the inevitable cap raise $10 million will be a much smaller percentage of cap space.

If there's a FA that you really covet this year then yeah it may be an asset to someone to make space.

Well it's great if you want to sign a free agent this season...?

For example. If the Spurs want to get Lamarcus Aldridge they need a player like him which they can get to take up 10 mill and then cut him to free up room for Aldridge

perfectly said. yeah...a contract that you can get out of by Aug 2 to free up cap space isn't valuable :insertwat:

Depends if they use it with the Kevin Love sign and trade.

I'm saying the demand will be less. The article also states they want a "playmaker" .. I'm sure they can find one team that it works for and make a deal.. My comment was more that $10 million in cap space isn't as great as it previously was in general due to the increase in the cap next year.

Sure it makes it less valuable, but $10mil is still going to be more than 10% of the new cap, so it's a valuable asset to have.

They need a legitimate 3 pt shooter more than a playmaker.

The demand will be less in 2016 man. But it's 2015 and the cap hasn't exploded to 100 million yet. Stop acting like we are a year in the future
