I'm excited about Piscotty and Grichuk, and Carpenter muscled up this year for a bit of power, but he's our leadoff guy. This lineup as a whole has been underwhelming over the last couple of seasons. Holliday is good for an occasional double and a couple of rally killing double plays. Peralta can get as cold as they come. I liked Heywards energy and glove, and he showed he occasionally could power up, but it was occasionally. Wong fell off the map, Molina is probably all busted up, and what do we really have at first? It's just promise with no production.

BUT, this has been the trend since Mabry took over after the '11 season. This year is it was the endless homerun balls given up, but lack of offense has been their demise in the playoffs the last 4 years. Yes, they're getting to the playoffs, but with this production at the plate, St. Louis isn't going to win #12.

Lineup shakeup, get rid of John, or both?

We need production at 1st no doubt.

But these last two games didn't have really that much to do with the offense, IMO. You give up 10 home runs in 2 games, you're gonna lose them.

ETA: did we have like 45 Ks in 4 games? That bothers me.

I was up in Kentucky for work a couple of months ago and you can catch the cards radio call there. Even the announcers were resigned to it.

"I just don't know where runs are going to come from in this lineup."

Worse thing is, in spite of the low run total, we could depend on pitching to get us through it. No other way they could have ended up with the best record in baseball. But even that went away towards the end. What's happened to Wacha?

28 strikeouts in the past 2 games, while we are not really a power team.

Absolutely absurd and JM really has gotta go. shite should have happened last year though as well, so will they do it?

Holliday has been absent or simply hurt us in the playoffs as long as I can remember and yet he's still our #3 hitter.

Whoa, man. Do you know how much he can curl? We can't move him. Way too important.

Who?

Holliday can go. I'd like to keep Heyward around for the right price. I don't want to be foolish and hope his power finally arrives, but he's a way better option than Jay. Not sure if we're going to get what we're hoping for from Adams.

Build around Carp, Grichuk, and Piscotty and hope you have the future at catcher somewhere in the system.

I've taken that into account, and I would have to point you in the direction of Grichuk to be our primary curling representative.

Dudes arms are cut, and what we lose in curling power can without a doubt be made up in, baseball.

I'm not a fan of Holliday. I love Carpenter, Piscotty, Gritchuk, and Wong. Pham has potential.

I'd like to keep Heyward, but he'll command too much money.

I like Pham, but he's already 27. Kind of like Freese getting real good late in his career and dwindling off. I like him, but I honestly don't see him as a staple.

Agree. Pham is a role player at best.

Wong

So damn hit or miss though, he can be on fire and makes some spectacular plays or he can absolutely frick you in the arse while your parents watch.

He's still growing and developing and may work around it, but right now he's not on my can't move list.

Peralta also flamed out huge at the end of the year and will need to be addressed

Every game I watched it seemed like the announcers would say the same thing about Wong: "If he would just get his hands up..."

Either he's uber stubborn, or Mabry just makes sure you get the correct bat.

Not a troll because I really have no idea, but how did the Jay Hey Kid do in this series?

The strikeouts up and down the lineup are the biggest concern moving forward.

He was on point in game 3. Defense is always solid.

Did you guys realize this is the fourth year in a row we have been eliminated from the playoffs by losing 3 straight games.

Holy dog shite what an epic failure

Re-sign Heyward, Piscotty spends all offseason working on 1B and the Spring and takes over full time at 1B. Pretty sure that's a done deal if Heyward is back.

Grichuk same as above but CF.

Nothing can be done about Wong or Peralta, but I don't worry too much about either, not exactly positions that carry an offense on any team and for the value they are still solid while Wong will only get better with time. Peralta shouldn't have been batting cleanup for 2 months now, all on Mike being stubborn.

Nothing can be done at C either, Molina still has a few years left but has to avoid the freak injuries similar to Waino.

Side note we better re-sign Lackey or imma be furious. We need him in so many ways. Quite clear the amount of innings for Wacha and Martinez became a major issue late in the year. Matheny also has to learn to better manage his bullpen, absolutely awful this year, those guys arms were gonna fall off if we advanced.

But really, IMHO, we probably sweep the Cubs with Waino and CMart. The team just has to stay healthy. Not much to you can do about that.
