Can someone explain how Bumgarner is considered to be on 2 days rest?

Can someone help explain why Bumgarner would be going on 2 days according to every report or game 7 preview and not 3?

If he pitched last Sunday(he did) and hypothetically there was a 5 man rotation, his next start would be Friday on 5 days rest, correct?

If so, wouldn't Wednesday be 3 days rest?

You don't count either day he pitches.

Then why if you have a 5 man rotation, it's always mentioned that you pitch on a full 5 days rest, right?

I've never heard it as 4 days rest, if I recall.

Because they say every 5th day. Which is 4 days after your last outing.

it's not.

They say that you take the ball "every fifth day."

That might be your confusion.

Then I guess that explains it lol.

Though in fairness, Sunday to Wednesday is only a couple hours short of 72 hours, or 3 days.

I know you're not

Just keep up the solid basketball info and that's good enough.

Meant to say 6 meaning that a pitcher in a 5 man rotation would pitch twice in 6 days

Even though they do play 6 games in a row fairly often, that's really only one pitcher in the rotation that will pitch on 4 days rest that week

Every other pitcher will get an extra day
