People would get upset. My whole point is that there is no reason to. There is also no reason to wear it because it's dumb (you are at a game that your team isnt playing in - where a neutral shirt if you want to be neutral).

And the USC and ULL thing is a little different. You would get more crap wearing the USC shirt because of the recent history (as misguided as it is as I said). There really is no recent history between LSU and ULL of significance so people would give you shite just to be assholes basically

I sort of feel the same way. However there are times where I feel someone is wearing a LSU shirt to a UL game just to piss people off and that bothers me.

To UL fans, there is history between the two. Maybe not on the football field but much of the hate stems from what LSU did to UL in the past I'm not here to justify that hate. That's a whole other debate. But there is history.

These Cajun threads are always the same song, different verse.

Being in the oil and gas industry, I've lived in Lafayette off and on for quite some time. I think both sides (LSU and UL/UL-L) need to come to grips with unsaid, known facts about one another.

As an LSU alumnus, I've taken note of the amount of true diehards, like Hendo, who are knowledgeable, well-grounded and friendly, which give other fans a positive outlook on the UL fan base.

Unfortunately in my opinion these fans in Lafayette are far and few between. The majority are no different than post-Katrina "Saints' fans", the definition of bandwagoners. From experience, these are the guys that say I myself don't like UL because I'm a LSU alumnus and a decently ranked TAF member. I've told them time and time again that despite my allegiance to LSU, I wish for nothing but the best for UL. In my eyes, I would love to see a mutual working relationship between both schools. For instance, if LSU gets a new Jumbotron, why not sell it cheap to the buddies down the road.

Also, LSU fans need to realize it is very easy to be a fan these days, given that we have so much to be thankful despite what views you may have. Rewind thing 15-20 years ago and look how much not only the team advanced but technology as well. Fortunately for us, ESPN, Fox, CBS, etc keep close tabs on anything that goes on in our camp. Therefore, any Tom, Dick or Harry can be a LSU fan and keep up to date with happenings. Our friends to the west in Lafayette aren't as fortunate being a non-BCS conference team. Thus, you have to give guys like Hendo and the few others that try to keep up to date with their little known team (from an national standpoint).

Therefore I implore my fellow LSU fans that you don't let the majority of fly-by-night bandwagon fans or vocal, ignorant fans give the UL Ragin Cajuns a bad name.

Most, if not all of the complaints I've heard from LSU fans in regards to UL fans is really a lack of understanding of the make up of their fan base. Yes, some are sore/bitter towards LSU and will give you some long explanation as to why that is, but save yourself the trouble listening the Huey P Long saga and don't engage these fans. As time goes on, and their program grows, I feel like these fans will ween themselves out of the pack.

I know it's one big CSB, but I like to step in for my Ragin Cajun friends from time to time. Geaux Cajuns.

If I wanted to go to Cajun Field to watch a game, shouldn't you be happy that i'm there spending my money and taking in the ULL atmosphere. There's always the possibility that a good experience could lead me following the Cajuns and pulling for them to when not playing LSU.

I would definitely wear LSU gear. Thing is, it doesn't mean that i'm there to start shite, it means I spent my time and money at Cajun Field, and wanted to experience your enviroment.

The student section might be a different story, I think you should expect a hassle there.

That's stupid. LSU isn't playing in the game. Wear a neutral color or something if you want. You know the response you'll get and you're doing it for attention.

Good post. I think a lot of complaints LSU fans have about UL fans are the same complaints that a lot of people have about LSU fans. There's jackasses in every fan base. If you go tailgate in a certain area before an LSU game you'll think LSU fans are the best ever; if you go to another, you might think they're the scum of the earth.

Don't be shy giving some of that oil and gas money to the Cajuns, either...

That's stupid. Purple and Gold are neutral colors. The Cajuns wear Red and Black, and I don't believe any of your opponents are P&G.

You said "LSU gear". If it's a purple pole that's one thing. But if you're wearing an LSU coaches' shirt, then you can probably expect some shite coming your way

If you're spending money, that's great. In fact, thanks for the support. But at the same time, when I go to an LSU game, I NEVER wear red or UL attire unless the Cajuns are playing in Tiger Stadium that day. It was like the man at the Saints game who wore an Aaron Rogers jersey the day we played Kansas City. A few fans gave him the "wrong stadium, buddy" ribbing, and some other fans looked at him with a little confusion. It tends to happen when you wear attire of a team who's not playing at that venue.

Also, as hard as it is to do, Cajun fans are trying to get just a little breathing room from being under LSU's big shadow. It's very difficult to do that when they're 50 miles apart. I love it when LSU fans try to say, "well ULL is trying to be like LSU." Not necessarily true. Do we want a 92,000 seat stadium? No. Would it be nice? Sure. Would we one day like to compete for a national title? Absolutely. What school wouldn't want that opportunity? That doesn't mean we want to be like LSU. We are just trying to rise from the ashes of defeat and striving to be the best that we can be. And when someone wears an LSU shirt to a UL function, it sort of sets the vibe to some that "hey, LSU is still here so know your place." Even though I know that is not always the case.

Personally, I welcome any one who comes to Cajun Field on Saturdays. All I ask is for a little consideration to wear something along the reddish side.

Well, I'll be at the game this weekend with some customers. Unlike our friend who had a bad experience, the purple and gold apparel will stay home.

After being around the block a few times, I've seen similar cases of big school and little school down the road. LSU fans need to come to the same realization of UGA, Bama/Auburn and Tennessee. The quibbles with the small schools down the road like your Georgia Southerns, UABs and MTSUs aren't anything to waste your time going back and forth with. Support one another because you guys aren't in the same league.

My dad was a UH grad. We rarely talk football but I recall him overhearing something from an atypical UL fan about LSU. He told me back when he was at UH, most everyone either rooted for the aggies or longhorns, and that was back in the beginning of the Yeoman years. He went on to say that after he graduated and his alma started doing well years later in the SWC, he didn't think it was much of a good idea to "smack talk" to his oil business, UT/A&M grads because "it was bad for business"! haha

Some people need to take a step back and realize that every day isn't Saturday in the fall, and that goes for any fan. You never know what your drunken and/or ignorant comments will get you or your community.

Whoa whoa, Hendo, LSU had a day game and UL had an evening game.

Didn't do it to spite anyone.

You know damn well that's not even remotely similar

It was a navy hat with lsu on front and tigers on back, nothing to even stick out. Wasn't even planning on going in student section but ran into some buddies.

I also knew half of the people in the student section that day, it was just some worm that would've gotten tossed.

It got loud and I was booed, I threw up my UL fingers, a couple people took it too far but I turned them around real quick.

It seems like most of the hate coming from LSU fans are over the stupid name of "Louisiana" or "UL". Sheesh it's not that serious. If ULM or any other school in the University of Louisiana system aren't giving you guys a hard time, I don't know why LSU fans, alums, etc are so concerned.

LSU and USC are not rivals. LSU has a complex toward USC that most USC fans don't reciprocate. Sound familiar to what LSU fans say about UL?

Hell USC fans don't even HATE LSU or talk bad about them. LSU fans get a hard on and all giggly when USC loses a game.

I have no problem with folks wearing LSU colors to UL games if they are LSU fans--hey, their money is green too.

There is very little purple and gold around UL.

Some folks on this board have said at times: "Half the UL campus wears LSU stuff."

Seeing for myself now, this is a myth.

This campus is solid red. An LSU shirt or jersey on the UL campus is as rare as hen's teeth.

I can't tell you why but I agree, frick USC. The media overhypes them every year.
