Reason why ESPN chose Caitlyn Jenner

quote:

"I think Caitlyn's decision to publicly come out as a transgender woman and live as Caitlyn Jenner displayed enormous courage and self-acceptance," Maura Mandt, ESPYs co-executive producer, tells Sports Illustrated. "Bruce Jenner could have easily gone off into the sunset as this American hero and never have dealt with this publicly. Doing so took enormous courage. He was one of the greatest athletes of our time."

"That is what the Arthur Ashe Courage Award is about, somebody from the athletic community who has done something that transcends sport," she further defends the decision. "One of the biggest platforms the Arthur Ashe Foundation has is educational, and I think in this choice we have the opportunity to educate people about this issue and hopefully change and possibly save some lives. I think that is why it was the right choice."

It will probably get a DUI after creating a car wreck by texting after the celebration party.

If agents are worth their salt, they are all over their clients today telling them not to snicker at the ESPYs or tweet about this. It's totally offensive to me that a cross dresser is being celebrated with this award and Costas is right that this is a crass exploitation play for the gawker factor.

It takes courage to drive under the influence of alcohol knowing you could be responsible for someone's death...

Probably not a coincidence that this is the first year that they're putting the show on network ABC.

And that it's live for the first time. They are looking for killer ratings.

The young lady that passed away this year and played basketball and was battling childhood cancer is real bravery. Not some sicko pervert.

Can some pervert nowadays go into a women's locker room if he claims to be a woman?

Absolutely. And she was so damn courageous to be filmed and with chemo and the cancer making her look like she did. I am afraid my pride would get the best of me in that situation, and I wouldn't want to be seen in that condition by the world.

I have never watched a single espy show and this cements it that I never will. The country has gone full retard. I hope some real heros and athletes have the courage to speak out. Giving awards to the mentally ill is never going to help these poor people.

Absolutely. Whoever down voted this should be punched in the face.
