isnt it already $50?
Raise it any higher and you run the risk of being the next course on the chopping block
It's underpriced. It would still be too cheap at $65.

Four BREC golf courses — Beaver Creek, Webb Park, City Park and Santa Maria — operated at a surplus through August, according to BREC financial documents.
Howell Park, Clark Park and Woody Dumas have lost money so far in 2012, the documents show.
Dumas has lost the most: $153,704 through Aug. 31.
.
So dumas and howell park go?

true webb, beaver, city and santa maria are the only money makers according to that article.
I haven't played Howell in decades and Clark is right next to Dumas, so, why the hell is that one open again?

Probably for the First Tee

You suck D at golf anyway Dire Wolf.
If they stopped letting you play, they wouldn't have to spend so much money on course repairs for all the times you slam your pitching wedge into the ground.

you are the real problem getting to many free rounds.
Posted on 10/1/12 at 4:03 pm to Dire Wolf
BREC should cut Howell and Dumas immediately, jump in a time machine and nix the Beaver Creek deal, raise dues at Santa Maria to at least $60, and turn city park into a 18 hole par three course.
Use the money saved/made to buy Sherwood.

With the way EBR runs their show, you never can tell.
Somebody might feel the people are disenfranchised if you cut either of those two.
Cutting Howell and Dumas would be racist.

While I agree, hackers keep public golf courses afloat
You raise the price of your fees to keep hackers away, you open the door for finacial problems is all Im saying
Ask Copper Mill

Boom. Somebody just nailed it. It's the same reason Santa Maria/Webb is underpriced.
Posted on 10/1/12 at 4:08 pm to MrPappagiorgio
Copper raised prices and it ran them into the red?
What happened to them?
Last time I played it, everything seemed fine.

Webb has to have the most rounds played out of any BR area course except maybe LSU.
No kidding. Once upon a time I lived at Fairway View, so I was right next to Webb. Didn't matter what time I played, I never made it more than 10 holes without coming to a screeching halt. No marshalls, WAY too many elder gentlemen. Its not a bad layout, and its usually in decent shape, but I've had many rounds ruined by getting into a rhythm and then completely losing it on the back nine because of bottle necks.

I posted this in another thread a while back.
The only time I ever attempted to play Howell was back in college. My Friday golf crew drove there. As we pulled up to the clubhouse, I watched a gentlemen attempt to play an approach shot to whatever hole is next to the parking lot/clubhouse. I say attempt because he was trying to determine how he could put two hands on the club without his pants falling down.
We turned around and left. I never went back.

Teed off last Friday at Webb around 1pm and finished in < 3 hours.

No, they've always been at $65, which is probably too much for a public golf course in Zachary, LA IMO

Nothing yet, other than having to remove the GPS's in the carts due to cost
and I think I remember them having to shut down for a period of time last summer due to course conditions and not being able to keep them up. Could be talking out of my arse here.
You can also find rounds for $20-29 all day long on golfnow.com
Posted on 10/1/12 at 4:19 pm to MrPappagiorgio
They also stopped including free range balls for paid rounds

Copper Mill is in Zachary.
It's a gimmick layout 6-6-6 (Some good holes but the sum is less than the parts.)
Copper Mill is a $50 fee course.
Santa Maria is in south BR.
It's a Robert Trent Jones Jr Course (well designed).
Santa Maria is a $65+ fee course.

Look, I love Santa Maria. It was my first and only sub 80 round. But, I don't really think its worth $60 for a round. I can play Carter Plantation for less than that. Hell, I played Grand Bear in MS for $35 on a Sunday. It was a special, but that's a top quality course.
Edit: I'd pay $60 at Santa Maria, but I think you'd have a hard time keeping it open at that fee.
