Like night and day compared to Verne. New we just need to shitcan Gary. He's not as bad as Verne but it will be better without him IMO.

This game is unwatchable with McCaffrey. Stanford is so bad otherwise.

Has there ever been a Sun Bowl that was worth watching? Someone remind me of a "classic" Sun Bowl game from years past....

There is nothing wrong with liking them, and I admit, I somewhat enjoy them in a nostalgic sense. But you still have to admit that Verne and Gary aren't great at their jobs. Gary is knowledgeable, but I can't say that I really like his commentating style. Verne just straight up doesn't have anything intelligent to say 95 percent of the time, and botches details like crazy.

The one a couple years ago with Arizona state and Duke was pretty good.

The Miami vs. Wazzu game in the blizzard was fun to watch.

First it was cool to hate Verne and Gary, now it's cool to love Verne and Gary and say "I've never understood the hate for Verne and Gary"

Verne is cool. But I could take or leave him.

Gary is the best in the damn business. I'm 80% sure Brad and Gary will be the best duo ever put together.

1994 Sun Bowl, Texas vs. North Carolina
quote:

The 1994 Sun Bowl was a college football bowl game played on December 29, 1994. The game pitted the unranked Texas Longhorns against the No. 20 North Carolina Tar Heels and eventual Texas head coach Mack Brown. The game was a seesaw offensive battle. Texas, down 31–21 midway through the fourth quarter, mounted a comeback to gain a 35–31 victory.

1988. Army goes up 14-0 on Bama, but Bama battles back to win 28-27. 1987 between Oklahoma St with Thurman Thomas vs West Va and Major Harris was good also. Snow and everything including a 35-33 game.

Was there even color TV back then? If ya ask me, those games don't even count.

Good examples of decent Sun Bowls...thanks for pointing those out.

The only ones I remember both involve USC....back around 1990 when Marinovich was the QB, the entire team didn't want to be there and about 4-5 years ago, USC showed up for the banquet like 2 hours late, then got their arse beat by a bad Georgia Tech team.

Color TV? Dude, we had the big arse satellite dish in the backyard during this time. I got NFL Sunday Ticket and MLB Extra Innings before there was such a thing. It was free too.
