There are a lot of subtle things about playing percussion, like playing the head of the drum slightly off-center to get the correct timbre, hitting the cowbell at the proper angle, or hitting the upper octave marimba bars perfectly on the lower edge, that are important to making a good sound. I find it hard to believe that she is able to do all these things. Plus, a huge part of being a percussionist is about being able to play MULTIPLE percussion instruments. She was stuck playing ONE for the entire halftime show. Then again, she may not care that she is stuck doing this.
BTW, I was a 5A Texas All-State percussionist.
