"Professional soccer is coming to Birmingham" was shouted numerous times Tuesday evening at downtown's Good People Brewing Company as the United Soccer League announced that a team was coming to the Magic City in 2019.

Wonder where they'll play?

Anyway we have a USL team here in Louisville and I had to go to a game for work once. Not only was it very boring but almost every fan looked like this:

I'm not knocking soccer fans but I find it boring and can't stand a game to end in a tie. Soccer is a sport that is not very recognized where I live and I guess that is why I find it boring.

I think part of the problem is soccer fans here try desperately hard to mirror what European Soccer fans do. I lived in Seattle where soccer was actually big and I went to a Sounders game and they were all doing shite you see European fans do at European games. Better off trying to make American Soccer its own unique thing, stop copying the traditions and behaviors of overseas soccer fans.

I'm not a soccer fan but that argument is awek because college football games could end in ties for over 100 years and it wasn't boring. Hell they didn't even have title games either

I've tried to get into it but I usually turn it off after 10 or 15 minutes of watching. I know the United States has MLS and some smaller leagues but Europe has a ton and it is too confusing to what league is the best and learning about the teams and players.

I agree with this. It seems like there are a thousand different leagues in Europe. Too confusing.

This is true but they changed rules and added more to it. I wish the NFL would change the way they do OT. It is real crappy to see a NFL game end in a tie. I rather watch my team lose a game than watch it end in a tie.

Might as well give Donaldsonville an NHL team.

I think it calls for a exclusive 70,000 seat stadium with a retractable roof.

I can't get into men's soccer. Or even a women's international match if the USWNT isn't playing.

Nothing against soccer in general. I need some kind of hook/connection to a player or team.

Seriously, what are you doing with your life if you are watching the MLS?
