Bill Raftery, the legendary college basketball announcer who has been calling games on ESPN – primarily, Big Monday – for years, is leaving for Fox Sports 1. The move was announced via press release moments ago. Raftery will still call NCAA tournament games for CBS – something he’s done for over 20 years now – but he will now be calling Big East games on Fox Sports 1 with Gus Johnson.

Fox Sports is going to have some good college bball showing.

FS One is definitely trying to compete. ESPN is just so entrenched and has the rights to so much shite it's going to be tough no matter how much on air talent they assemble

Yes, speed is being rebranded to FS1.

I cant wait for some of these contracts with espn to expire to see what kind of nbc sports and fs1 are going to throw to lure them away.

Georgia Tech announcer Wes Durham announced that he was leaving for a TV job a few weeks ago. The network was "undisclosed" at the time, but it is likely FS1. He also has the Falcons job and will be retaining it.

True. But Fox Sports does have a pretty good foothold in sports programming.

MLB: Saturday games, All-star game, playoffs

NFL: Regional Sunday's and I'm sure they'll attempt to land a contract for a national weekly game. Rumor has it the NFL is looking to sell rights to half of the Thursday night games. Bidding war with NBC?

College football: They've got tie ins with the big 12, big 10 and PAC 12...plus big 10 and PAC championships games. I think CUSA is also affiliated with Fox Sports. It may not be SEC but they do have TV tie ins with major conferences.

Soccer: Not my cup of tea but they're somewhat exclusive when it comes to soccer programming.
