Georgia vs. Texas

Which program is a bigger sleeping giant? Ignore past championships and accolades. Think about the future, recruiting, conference, proximity to other "threats", etc.

It's Texas by a wide margin. Georgia is in the East, but they still have to win the SECCG. That's something Texas doesn't have to do.

Georgia should be a better program than they've been.

But Texas should theoretically be an annual top 5 team just like Alabama. Great academics, awesome city, big fan support, endless money, recruiting Mecca.

Has Texas really fallen so much that their now considered a sleeping giant? I mean they were just in the National Championship in what doesn't feel like very long ago.

They got pieces on offense.

If they can figure the defensive side out, they could have a very quick Michigan-esque turnaround.

It's Texas. We have far less competition in-state than Texas, but Texas is the most fertile recruiting ground in the nation and has the Longhorn Network. We also have a far tougher path being in the SEC, and Texas has no one other than Oklahoma right now. Baylor looks to be done, TCU is declining, and I think Tom Herman is an outstanding coach.

Kirby hasn't proven to be anything other than a remarkable recruiter as of now. I hope I'm wrong though.

Georgia is all of these things but slightly less money.

Georgia was the 2nd best team in the country 4 years ago.

Neither of these programs are sleeping, just some growing pains.

Tennessee, Gerogia tied.

Texas has some interior problems to work out before they become a power again but on paper they should never not be good. The past 5 years or so they have been a poster boy for how to frick up a good thing.
