All this is going to do is force the NBA to revist their policy on age.

I agree the one and done rule is stupid, but how how is withholding freshmen from competition going to force the NBA to do anything?

Hell it seems like the NBA would prefer to get guys two years removed from HS.

What a crock of shite. Why do these conferences hate young black males so much, that they are willing to conspire in order to delay the day when these men can earn a living and provide for their families.

Strange how this is only being considered for football and basketball. I guess baseball players don't need a "year of readiness".

disgusting

Does anyone think this actually is designed to help the players?

It really does come off as racially motivated nonsense. It's holier than thou bullshite about a minor "problem" that affects so few. Football players have to stay three years while only a small handful of basketball players from the 350 D-1 schools leave school for pro ball after one year.

Nope. It's the academic folks feeling guilty about schools supposedly being used as a minor league in football and basketball for the pros. Many refuse to see how college ball helps kids develop for professional playing careers in a different but equally valid way that classes and majors do the same thing for other students.

Hell no.

I think its designed to try and frick over smaller conferences that can offer kids PT sooner than a lot of P5 schools. It's a way they can suck up more talent w/o saying they are trying to kill those school's sports programs.

It will also eventually screw the non traditional P5s that can offer PT sooner as well.

If they want to come of as legitimately helping students this needs to be a rule for ALL athletes and not just football and basketball.

If you play baseball in college you have to stay 3 years or until you are 21.

what does that have to do with sitting out your first year to concentrate on academics and adjust to college life?

You have to stay in college for three years for football as well, yet that's included

en pretty much nobody worth a shite would ever play CBB. the NBA would effectively kill CBB

Is that why CBB was dead in the 80s and 90s?

And what about the NBA players union? This has to be collectively bargained and unless the owners give a MAJOR concession there's no way the NBA PA agrees to two years.

NBAPA would be very much FOR an increase in age requirement to enter the NBA.

Current players are in the NBAPA and it would protect their jobs longer and ensure they have more mature and experienced teammates in the future.
