But the Balls might have the last laugh. On the first day of sales, Big Baller Brand made $157,685, according to Nice Kicks' Matt Halfhill.

Which might make it seem like the Ball family moved ridiculous amounts of shoes. Until you realize that Lonzo's first sneaker retails for a hefty $495. With prices like that, Big Ballers doesn't need to move a lot of shoes, it just needs to find its market. And based on early market figures, it almost certainly has.

Congrats to him. After COGS he made what Nike makes in a couple minutes.

After all that hype, he sold a MAX of 318 pairs...

That's fricking terrible.

Dude sold 300 shoes and he's splitting that with his father. It would still have been far smarter to sign with Nike. I'll take the guaranteed $5-$10 million per year over whatever the balls will make any day

It's a GROSS number. The Balls haven't made any money yet. None.

People are acting like they are running a lemonade stand and pocketing all the money.

Then I guess he's not a big baller. Ben Simmons' contract can exceed $40 million with incentives. $20 million guaranteed

Do you even know how businesses work? 300 units sold is god awful. Also, you know these shoes cost money to make right?

Just popping in to encourage more Ball threads. This family definitely earns all of the attention they are receiving, especially dad.

Probably less than half of that in reality after production.

Grossed $150k? They are totally raking it in.

From the article the OP's link refers to:

While $157,685 is an incredible amount of sales in one day, it is far from the $2.5Million that numerous outlets have reported today online.

That is not an incredible amount of sales.

Do you know that context matters? 300 units would be awful for a huge corporation but might outstanding for a small firm.

Obviously there are costs and not knowing what they are we can't know how profit, if any they made, but $157,000 in revenue in a week or so may be outstanding for all you know.

They haven't spent much either, from what I gather.
