Only because you live in NOLA and have to put up with hearing about down the bayou things and its called ESPN NOLA
The topics are no different than any other local sports show. LSU Saints Pels Baseball
You want to hear bad talk radio... put on Laff's ESPN

the game plan is one of THE WORST shows I've ever listened to. No energy from the hosts. Terrible topics, bad guests.
I absolutely can't stand his voice. The show sucks

Absolutely. I'm not really one to criticize the local guys. It's much better listening to them talk about teams I'm interested in, rather than the national guys who talk about shite I'm not interested in, like the Yankees, or the Seattle Seahawks, Tour de France, etc. However, Lafayette's local shows (at least in the past) were just awful. Caller driven radio where often times the host would be talking about one topic like LSU spring football for instance and T-boy from Scott would call in asking (in a think cajun accent) "uh, do you know what time da UL softball game is at tonight?"
WTF? read a newspaper

the game plan is the worst. I would put it on if I can't get to sleep. Their delivery and monotone-ness is just awful to listen to.
seriously it sounds like a recorded lecture from your most boring professor.

Baton Rouge hands down. Scott Alexander is awful. I can't listen to that guy at all. Baton Rouge's local shows are actually really good.

Scott Alexander drives me insane with how much he talks about himself. It's bizarre.
Literally every single topic, he talks about how he was talking to someone else on the topic earlier, years ago, whatever and "I said".
When he has a guest on he introduces then by talking about his interactions with the guest.
He constantly brings up his past experiences in production, as an agent, etc.
It is so fricking weird.

Sounds like the MS sports talk shows. Pretty miserable working out there last year.

Good point. Does three shows constitute a lineup?

This is the worst. Probably why sports radio has trended away from caller-driven radio in the past decade, even locally.

I'm a big fan of Mascona's show during fall camp and football season.

How long before XM makes these shows obsolete? I would stab myself in the ears if I had to listen to AM talk radio everyday. Between the commercials every 5 minutes and the know nothing hosts, it's fricking miserable

you obviously don't listen. I turned it on today briefly and they were talking politics.
the only reason i put it on is because i forget what time they air the Russilo show.

I feel like as long as people have cars, we will have terrestrial radio (AM/FM).
Interesting read on the future of AM/FM from Slate

I doubt ever. There's always going to be a market for people who just want to hear about local teams and news. That's like asking when will cable news channels render local news channels obsolete.
Posted on 7/30/15 at 12:20 pm to GynoSandberg
Isn't xm also obsolete?
Posted on 7/30/15 at 12:36 pm to Maximus
They definitely aren't trending upwards.
