That guy is stupid too. This is not going to hurt his draft status, and whether he is a bust will have zero to do with him not working out

It actually would be beneficial to be skipped over for the #1 pick. There is no way he would honestly say he wouldn't rather be selected #2 or #3.

Or genetics...

Yeah, a lean basketball player expending as many calories as he does on a daily basis was able to add 20 lbs of lean mass in less than three months...

Reasonable muscle gains for beginners or novice lifters

quote:

According to Aragon, advanced trainees near their genetic potential are lucky to gain 0.25% to 0.5% of their total body weight gain as fat-free muscle per month. That makes the 10-pound-gain claims of already ripped celebrities seem outrageous, right?

In my opinion, it's rare to see a natural bodybuilder or fitness enthusiast close to their genetic muscular potential gain more than 2-3 pounds of lean muscle in a year. This is why it's an accomplishment when experienced bodybuilders manage to gain 7-10 pounds of fat-free muscle in a year.

Provided that they follow a sensible, structured diet and training program, a 150-pound beginner fitness enthusiast in Aragon's model can potentially gain 18-27 pounds of lean muscle per year. A 170-pound intermediate fitness enthusiast can potentially gain 10-15 pounds of muscle.

quote:

Ben Simmons F 6-10 240

Ben Simmons size according to LSU roster

0.5% of Simmons' bodyweight would equate to approximately 1.5 lbs of muscle or lean body mass he could potentially gain each month.

Not even a world-class bodybuilder on every anabolic steroid and growth hormone imaginable could gain 20 lbs of muscle in that time frame. The 76ers, their sources, or whoever is claiming Simmons gained 20 lbs of muscle, not 20 lbs of mass mind you, are undeniably wrong.

We've seen Anthony Davis attempt to gain weight in the off season. He came into camp looking a little bulkier only to lose it during the season.

These young, thin dudes probably have an ultra high metabolism. The amount of running they do makes it very hard to maintain any weight gain.

I think the person from the 76ers commenting confused mass with muscle. Or said muscle since, if he kept his lean stature, it looked like 20 lbs of muscle in a nonchalant kind of way.

I have no doubt that with a more relaxed supplement protocol for the NBA vs. NCAA he could probably put it on quick with a nutritionist and a personal S&C coach.

Yes. What the hell you're talking about, and what your post had to do with anything. What I first asked

TMAC just slyly hated on Ben on the Jump. Was talking up Karl Anthony Towns and said he was a standup guy not like the guy who's people are saying is going #1 in the draft. Said last night he was in the suite with former NBA players and he said Ben didn't speak to them but KAT did. TMac could just be butthurt.

He put on 20llbs of muscle since April? No way.

eh, i mean it's unusual in a vacuum, but i would take into account his age. he's only 19. while he was more physically developed at his age than most people, he still hasn't completely matured physically, especially if he finally started giving a damn and working out. 20 pounds on a 6'10" frame also isn't the same as 20 pounds on someone 6'3." and fwiw, i highyl doubt 20 lbs in muscle should be taken literally or was meant to. Think it's more likely that he's put on 20 pounds and doesn't look fatter

If we're talking about 20 lbs of mass then I agree that it is absolutely possible. It mostly depends on how much of a caloric intake increase was made to facilitate that sort of weight gain.

someone saying they would go with other guy doesn't mean the blame for that reason was bc of the refusal to work out. let me know when you get that.

Isn't he like 19? I know I put on serious weight at 19 and 20. Twenty pounds of muscle does sound suspect.

I imagine it has more to do with what his perceived playing weight at LSU was.

ESPN has him at 225, LSU has him at 240. I imagine he is probably over 240 right now, and the scouts were believing the lower number.

But lots of football players and I imagine basketball players too lose weight during the season. I bet they don't life as heavy as they can when they aren't playing games every couple of nights.

there is literally no genetics on earth that allows for 20 lbs of lean muscle mass in 60 days.

none. you cant train fast enough to recover and have it form.

Seems legit and definitely just hard work. All natural.
