ESPN article on the Showtime Sports documentary

quote:

"The NCAA is really f---ed up," Simmons said on "One and Done," a film that will air on Showtime on Friday night. "Everybody's making money except the players. We're the ones waking up early as hell to be the best teams and do everything they want us to do and then the players get nothing. They say education, but if I'm there for a year, I can't get much education."

The NCAA has to bend to public pressure on paying athletes at some point right?

The NCAA isn't keeping Ben Simmons out of the NBA, the NBA is, take it up with them.

Same for the NFL.

He's such a loser of a person.

And the comment doesnt even make sense. If you are there for a year you get a years worth of education. Did the NCAA tell him he had to leave after a year?

First they need to just rid of the ridiculous One and Done. If you are good enough to go, then you go.

If not, stay for two years. Its pretty simple.

Ben Simmons complaining about the NCAA like it's such a travesty he was "forced" to go to college for a year and be treated like a god. These kids have zero understanding of what actual work is. He is now a multimillionaire at 19 years old playing a game for a living. Tell me how fricked up the NCAA is again.

What did LSU ever do to him? Besides recruit him and give him a scholarship. The worst part is he acts like didn't completely half arse his season there. Dude is going to be a bust

Why? It's the NBA that's fricking them out of money with their age requirement. Nobody's making them go to college. They can go play overseas in pro leagues for a year or however long and make money.

People are so shocked an 18 year old kid feels this way. When I was that age I thought everything in my way was stupid and fricked up.

then go to China for a year and then go to the NBA if money is so important.

or if education is so important, stay in school 3-4 years and get a degree.

which is it?

To an extent that is probably true. But he's pretty bad. At worst he's just a loser. At best he's extremely immature. I hope, for his sake, it's the latter and he grows up one day.

I can't stand this douchebag. I hope he sucks in the NBA. Not that it matters because he has money and doesn't give a shite.

If they pay the star Basketball player they have to pay the average girls Volleyball player. Not possible.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say immature. I believe he would have been a different kid and player at somewhere like Kentucky. LSU was a mistake for him. As an adult it is hard to handle things well when you are in a bad situation and shite show like LSU basketball. Imagine that at his age with that little life experience.

You're never going to get anywhere with paying players because people will say schools need all of the football and hoops money to send women's lacrosse from Lincoln, Nebraska to State College, PA on a Tuesday night. And that's a pretty valid argument. It just gets a bit difficult to swallow when you see coaches' salaries, the facilities arms race, and knowing that schools probably hemorrhage cash on dozens of unnecessary support staff.
