This is the wrong board for this and I wish you didn't feel the need but debate it but since you did... IMO you didn't listen to the argument with an open mind. For starters it was pointed out the beliefs statement you made is at least in question (when more than 70% of british muslims want cartoonists prosecuted or worse)
Maher opening statement:
Liberals need to stand up for liberal values like freedom of speech, freedom of religion, equality for women and minorities including homosexuals. Liberals completely shut down when you point out these values are opposed in the muslim world.
Harris response:
Liberals have failed on the topic of theocracy, with the exception of their ability to criticize white theocracies. They equate any criticism of islam as racism.
Affeck response(without intention irony):
So islamophobia is not a real thing? Its gross, its racist.
Harris response points out although a minority of people act on or actively support terror a majority support the oppression of women, homosexuals, religious minorities, and the oppression of free speech.
Affleck response: throws more feces.

It is a major schism within the liberal side of American politics. The liberals who believe liberalism is about justice and fairness are opposed by those who believe liberalism is about free speech.
You are starting to see this explode on American political campuses in very obvious ways (with the latter type of liberals quietly backing some conservatives against SJW movements)

You're right. They don't shut down verbally, they only shut down intellectually. They start screaming about racism instead of admitting there's a major problem when most western muslims don't respect free speech which criticizes Islam.

Bill Simmons is so cool. He has his shirt untucked just like a regular guy who likes to kick back and talk sports and pop culture, and work pop culture references into sports conversations and sports references into pop culture conversations.
