Nope.

Haven't been there or the Preakness yet, but I will.

Have fun! I doubt it with the group of 3 yr olds we have, but maybe you'll see a triple crown chance.

I've been. It's not in a great neighborhood, and it's far from pretty. But it's a blast day of.

If you love the horses and have a chance, the place to go in NY is Saratoga. It's f'n gorgeous and the town is super fun.

Where are you staying in NYC? Will happily help w/ area recommendations, re: bars, food, things to do.

Also your experience willbe 10x better if you use a wagering site like twinspires.com or xpressbet.com (what I use)or tvg.com. If u live in need York you can use nyrabets. This less u wager from out phone so you don't have to spend half the day in wagering lines

Staying near Times Square. I am worried about getting to the track from there.

Got tickets to watch California Chrome a few years ago. It was my first time and it was awesome.

Just a couple of tips:
-it's the only race of the triple crown to have the tailgating/extravaganza right outside the stadium (not in the inside part of the track)
-you can bring your own cooler as long as there isn't any glass
-it was pretty warm so I'd suggest dressing comfortably. We both wore slacks and blazers though
-we took the subway to elmont park. I would suggest showing up at minimum before 2pm. The subway is slammed pack with people. Also right after the main race is over. You'll probably be stuck for a good hour or two from everyone running back to the subway. I would cash out your winning as fast as you can.
-if you are able to get out early bring some gold up chairs and grab a spot. If you don't you'll be walking around a lot.

It was one of the funnest trips I've taken recently. Take plenty of pictures and remember that there are about 6 races before the main race so if you like to gamble head out early.

Apologies for the delay in response.

Getting there on Stakes Day is super easy. You're staying in/around Times Square, so you are just north of Penn Station. You will take the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) from there straight to the track. Safe and everyone else on the train will be in good spirits and headed to the races just like you.

There are tons of betting windows open and about a half hour in between races. You will have plenty of time to grab a beer, place your bets and walk around the paddock area prior to the next race.

In terms of being in the city, I'm sure you will do your own research for things you'd like. If you do need food, idea recommendations, let me know.

I have grandstand tickets. Are dress shorts and a collared shirt?

Do that have an area that sells cigars?
I know that is two odd questions. LOL

Never mind. Have fun. Buddy brother who is Pletchers assistant says he thinks Always is a triple crown horse. Keeps saying he is a beast and he won the Derby with ease.

u would of been better off saving the loot and going to saratoga.

1000x better track, and the area has so much history.

lol, the horse was crawling home, and because of super inside bias, he was able to hold on.

NO ONE outside closed, because it was a swamp out there.

look at these fractions for winner, for last half of mile. (:26.15) (:26.32). those are meadowlands pacing fractions, not thorough bred finishing fractions.

Horses breeze half a mile faster than 52 1/2

Thanks for the answers but I am wondering about the dress code in the grandstand. Can I wear dress shorts and collared shirt?

He said the Velaquez never gave the command for Always to let loose (going by what my buddy said). He said he will throw a $100 down on a future that he will win the triple. The horse does have some good genetics to make a run for it. We will see
