I lean this way.

Chrome had an easy trip in the Preakness and responded down the stretch when Curlin was closing.

The only way I see Chrome losing is if one of the jealous other trainers throws in one of his fast pace setting longshots to wear Chrome out early.

Does anyone else like my idea of fixing the TC by not allowing Derby horses to skip the Preakness and race in the Belmont? Basically if you skip the Preakness because you didn't win the Derby, you cannot race your horse in the Belmont. I don't mind new horses coming in Belmont because those horses would have run in the Derby if they were good enough to do so.

When did this become a regular practice?

Curlin wasn't catching chrome in the preakness no matter how much track was left, he will not catch chrome in the belmont. Now curve may have a shot depending on the pace of belmont

California Chrome might abandon his Triple Crown bid in the Belmont Stakes if New York officials do not allow the colt to wear a nasal strip.

Trainer Art Sherman suggested it was a possibility, although he made no threats about California Chrome passing on a chance to become horse racing's 12th Triple Crown winner.

"I'd have to leave it up to the owners," he said Sunday. "I know they'll be upset."

The Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner has worn a nasal strip during his current six-race winning streak after co-owner Perry Martin wanted to try it. Sherman is based in California and said he wasn't aware that using one in New York might be a problem. He said he would talk to New York racing officials and the horse's owners.

What the actual frick, New York Racing Association?

Fan runs onto the track Hank Aaron style and slows California Chrome down enough to lose.

I have been a big fan of this. What other sport allows new teams in the Championship Games?

Mr. Coburn agrees with you about locking horses in to the series.

I don't mind actually as long as the horses that are entered into the Belmont are in the race to win and not just to F the TC chances. I am with the group that believed this happened with Smarty Jones. I don't know what they had against the horse or connections, but it was cheap IMO.

The horse that makes me most nervous is a new guy named Tonalist which is the only horse really bred for stamina top and bottom. However, he won a race in the slop of the lead so those usually do look impressive. BUT, I really hope he doesn't win because that is a really CRAPPY name. WTF is a tonalist? Seriously? Yes, I appreciate a well-named TB

Yeah I watched Tonalist at the Peter Pan, he could be one to watch out for..there will be alot of horses with 5 weeks rest in the field too.

Commanding Curve takes chrome in the stretch. The way he was closing in the derby, the only way I see it ending another way is if one of them gets blocked in. But I hope Chrome wins.

Not only that, he showed a new dimension in the Peter Pan by winning on the lead. He can close, too. I'm scared of him.

Then by default 1 of the other 4 options happens.

This is totally off topic, but the Tonalist tangent made me think about it. Pretty sure every sire in Kentucky is going to be from the same 2-3 recent lines. They need to bring in some new blood, if any still exists.

All came from just 3 lines and really 1 of them were the dominant. I think the bigger issue is the trend to breed for speed and short races and folks are dropping the importance of stamina and distance.
