re: Belichick's last minute time clock blunder was as bad as anything Miles has done

Do you even math bro? How old do you think Belichick is? He is only 62. By your definition, he has been coaching football since he was 12.
Technically he used to hang out with his dad when he did film study and coaching.

He made them pass on either 2nd or third down. To me, that's a win for the patriots.
It's a huge gamble. Statistically, he should have burnt the TO immediately. But they had 3 wides on the field, why give them a break?
And how do they come out of a TO in three wides

Disagree. Both sidelines were playing high stakes poker and Pete blinked, not Bill.

He didn't force Seattle to do anything. They had forty seconds to run three plays, most high school teams could have done that

The probability that the Patriots have a FG drive with predictable plays, with so little time, and at the end of the game against the Seattle defense seems about equal as stopping them from scoring a TD. So I don't see how it was such a bad choice.

He knew that Pete didn't really want the glory of the Super Bowl winning Td to go to Lynch. He knew he would throw it to get Wilson a shot. Awesome to see how Pete's thugs acted at the end.

After the miracle circus catch to get Seattle inside the five yard line, the 'horseshoe in the arse" gods bailed him out. I'm fine with it, as I'm fine with it when they do the same for Coach Miles.

Wasn't stupid at all. Only had 2 TO's. Had he called a TO, wouldn't have been able to call one after 3rd down. No one was expecting a pass to stop the clock. Had they ran, like everyone was expecting, after 1 play he would have been out of TO's and would lose :35.

I thought they should've called a TO, but I don't think it was a bad call not to. Some people trust their defense. I'd rather have the ball with a chance to win, but I'm conditioned to think the defense will blow it by being an LSU and Saints fan.
I think Carroll would've done the same thing if roles were reversed, he trusts his D.
This was in no way a clock blunder, just a differing of opinions.

Pretty much

Halberstam noted that Belichick quickly became conversant in football arcana, eloquently explaining to one old coach at 10 years old that he should switch to an Oklahoma 5-2 (a predecessor to today’s 3-4 defenses) to better match up against an upcoming opponent

Don't agree with you about Belichik's decision.
But more important, please never construct a sentence dealing with football that includes both Mile$' and Belichik's names.

Saban's clock blunder cost him a national championship.

He somehow won though, and that is all that matters.

Easy to say now. Both were waiting for the other to stop the clock. At that point stopping the clock would have seemingly been more beneficial to Pats. Bill guessed right thanks to someone stepping up and making a play.

And if it hadn't it would have been Urban's clock blunder - only burning 20 seconds in the possession that turned the ball back over to Bama. Again, this is all easy to do from the couch.

I thought it was a dumb move to not call a timeout. Sidenote about belichick is he was a high school classmate of Jeb Bush. Maybe he was stoned and not looking the clock The owner of the pats sure was drunk last night

The dumb move for some reason convinced the Hawks they needed to throw
Posted on 2/2/15 at 9:19 am to Jcorye1
Definitely was an interesting decision...I thought he should have called the timeout, but I can certainly see Belichick being savvy enough to think it was the right coaching move at the time. Regardless of what he chose, the Pats were in a pretty low win probability situation. A goal line stand vs. trying to get chunks of yards vs the Seattle defense to attempt a long FG at minimum.

Happy accident. He didn't count on them throwing on the goalline in his wildest dreams.
