At What Age, Do You Start Basketball Conditioning For Younger Kids

I will be putting my son in basketball Camp soon. He is getting the basics down and learning the fundamentals. He is currently nine.
I don't want to be that "dad" that pushes their kids in sports. Insert Lebron James Son Video
Do I work the conditioning into the drills? Do I wait til he is a little older? Weights? Calf raises?

Then I would hold back on questions about "basketball conditioning" for a 9 year old.
When allowed to enjoy sports without pressure, children are remarkably good at conditioning themselves.

youd be shocked at what some kids are doing.

Let your kid have fun.
Conditioning him to get good grades and a good job is more important than fricking basketball, your little honkey isnt gonna play for Kentucky.

I am. That is why I asked the question about conditioning.
The camp will be doing 5 on 5 and 3 on 3 games. Just didn't want my son to be tired after a couple of trips up/down the court.

Tell him to lay off the cigarettes for a while.

If you have to do conditioning for a 9 year old to keep him from being tired from running up and down the court, he probably isn't too much of an athlete.
But, my guess is that he will be fine.

Second trimester. It looks like you are too late. Have another one.

More of a cigar smoker.

Playing basketball is conditioning for playing basketball for a 9 year old.
Don't worry about it.

what drills? id say dont do shite except send him to the camp and then ask how much fun he had when you pick him up

go for a run with him around the neighborhood. take him to a track and run with him. these days kids play so much ball that conditioning almost takes care of itself in terms of pure stamina.

Thanks for dropping by, folks.

When I was 9, I was playing so much basketball just for the fun of it that there was no need for separate conditioning drills or anything.
I could run around for hours.
I didn't do any actual conditioning until middle school basketball. We did drills and running in practice. I was 12.
