In his defense, he's been good with the White Sox...not sure that changes anyone's mind, but worth noting.

The Astros have been losing leads in the 5th, 6th and 7th innings. Adding a guy like Clippard looks like a perfect fit.

Clippard has been very good for most of his career. I think this can be a good move. He just has to have a short leash.

As someone who has been very critical of the gm this is the type of backup plan that I thought he should have had on trade day. Look at the dodgers they got good mentions for picking up Tony Watson and cingrani. Neither of which were doing any better on the season than clippard. Only after the 3 pm deadline did it come out that they got darvish.
Luhnow tried to go big with Britton which is fine but a clippard for cash should have been lined up ready to go. Better late than never I guess
