I think the season is way too long
The reason the season is so long is due to the history of the game. Back in the day a baseball game was not a planned vacation trip by a family with the expectation of spending 1,000 bucks on motel, tickets, food, parking, etc.
A baseball game was something you went to every day if you lived in a baseball city. Tickets were cheap. Food was cheap. There was no T.V. If you didn't live in a baseball city you had to listen to the game on radio.
But today, the baseball season should be shortened.

Cut the season to 140 games. Let pitchers use the inner half of the plate. No body armor unless it's protecting an injury. Force the umpires to call the written strike zone.

The DH is one of the worst things to ever happen to America. Worse than even Obamacare.

Can someone explain to me the problem with inter-league play? Is it because of DH (or no DH) and road teams having to adjust?

The best analogy I can give you is the Super Bowl prior to AFL and NFL combining. There was a lot more drama when Joe Namath and the Jets beat the Colts because there was no inter-league play.

I liked the idea if inter league when it started, now it is just part of the overall game. I think it has diminished the All-Star game to a degree though.
I love the DH actually it has allowed me to see some great players continue their careers.

I don't mind interleague, but I wish teams played other teams in their league more often. I don't like the Cubs only making one trip to all cities not in the central.
I wouldn't mind the DH in the NL. I understand people like more strategy, but I get tired of watching pitchers bunt or K in almost every AB. I also hate to see a pitcher pulled in the 5th or 6th just because the manager wants a PH.
I love sabermetrics.
I think replay is good. They're getting more calls right. How could that be bad?

Nobody wants to see a pitcher bat.

I was a kid in the early 50s. The World Series was over before Oct. 20.

quote:Furthermore, in the old days if you were a ballplayer, it was partly because baseball was the only thing you were good at, so you just did it every day because you didn't have shite else to do. Baseball in the day, whiskey and whores through the night.
