And would you take the chance of firing the commissioner after you just made the most money in your companies history? Even if Goodell has nothing to do with that why would you take that chance?

It's surprising how lost this is on a lot of folks. He does their bidding.

He is the league's "fall guy." He takes all of the heat, insulating the owners from the public's outrage.

I'm not sure the general public really views these as disasters tho. And if they do, I am not sure how much they would attribute it to Goodell.

Goodell is perfect for the owners, he does there bidding, takes any and all heat off of them, and when something goes wrong they can just blame him. Meanwhile they are still making hand over fist.

I mean do yall honestly think Goodell should be fired? The fact yall hate him so freaking much shows how good he is at his job. He doesnt take a piss without the owners telling him to do so. So all the hate over the years Goodell has taken, means the owners have avoided it. All the new rules and shite he had to deal with, means he took all that pressure off the owners. He also managed to take the biggest threat the NFL has ever faced(concussion lawsuit) and managed to turn in the biggest profit in NFL history.

Your blind hate for him shows the owners just how good he is at his job

More subjective/minor:
-Thursday Night Football
-Trying to trademark "who dat" and losing

Major Successes:
-Handing the NFLPA their arse in the latest CBA
-Handing the NFLPA their arse in the concussion litigation.

This trumps anything else. Anything.

You should care because Brady plays in a whole season, not 3/4

This this this. He is the first commisioner to ever face a legit threat that could cripple the NFL, and he whipped that arse and printed more money while doing so

This. He got the networks to increase the recent TV deal about 60% according to some articles. Also got DirecTV to pay 12 billion over 8 years for Sunday Ticket (not withstanding the legal challenges).
how much did Goodell specifically have to do with those deals?

It is very conveniant how you seem to want to give him all the blame, yet none of the credit

He is the head of a league that is as profitable as it has ever been. Certainly he alone doesn't make the money, there is an army of people responsible for that, but he is at the top.

I think the public in general attributes virtually all of those to Goodell.

He's a punchline and has been for years specifically because of those items mentioned.
