Multiple sources are telling me Arkansas has zeroed in on John Calipari. Barring any last minute issues, I expect him to be the Razorbacks new head coach.

Thats...unexpected.

The only logical explanation is that they both want to move on.

Cal had a $0 buyout if he chooses to leave Kentucky.

If they fire him, he is owed $35M.

There is no negotiating for Cal on his end. He owes Kentucky nothing of he leaves.

Rumor also is that Tyson family is going to pay Cal $7M and $5M for NIL.

Y’all keep responding about Kentucky.

I’m saying it doesn’t make sense for Arkansas.

Cal is 65 years old and has proven to struggle as a coach. He’s been playing with elite talent for years and has underperformed. So Arkansas - who cannot bring in elite talent the same way Kentucky can - is going to hire him for a few twilight years?

I doubt it happens but I think it makes a ton of sense for both places. He’s been at Kentucky for like 15 years it’s stale it’s time to move on. He’s kind of a bitch but he’s still a good coach who will bring in good players

Which side doesn’t make sense? Calipari and Kentucky have been infighting the last few years, and there were some in the industry that thought he was going to be fired last year, but the buy-out is/was too high.

Arkansas - Gets a proven recruiter who has shown a more consistent ability to coach talent than Musselman.
Calipari - Stays in the SEC, gets away from the messy relationships he has at Kentucky, and goes to a school that has Walmart money for NIL.
Kentucky - Moves off a coach they want to move off without having to pay $33M
