It's an Atlanta sports team that is 10 games under .500

You're good.

Very small crowds on both nights. We are beyond terrible.

The Dodgers series had 24k, 33k, and 24k

Those are good numbers for midweek games

I guess a good opponent helps those numbers as well

Yeah, I went to a Braves-Cubs game a couple of weeks ago, the stadium was pretty full... but only because it was a solid 30+% Cubs fans. And that's when the Braves were at least near .500. Now that they're spiraling down and well below .500 you'll be fine.

I hope less than 5,000 show up the rest of the year. They deserve it.

Why is there such a devoted cubs fan base?

My guess?

One of the most recognizable MLB teams in history, in one of the largest cities in the U.S., and I think people really do love the "lovable losers" moniker. As much as people jump on the Yankees bandwagon for their success I think people love the Cubs as the endless underdog.

It's also Atlanta, never lived there, but everyone on here will tell you most people that live in Atl. aren't from the area, I assume many Cubs fans at that game included.

Lovable losers. That, coupled with the fact that they are actually 6th (i believe) in all time win percentage

Tomorrow would probably be a worse crowd. People may show for Miller pitching though.

But I wouldn't expect it to be completely dead...I don't think they've been at home since the all star break and the Giants travel well

This.

And, within Chicago, the Cubs are on the north side, so it's right in the middle of the "young professionals" area of town...very accessible for the people that live there, and the games and the neighborhood are very fun so people get swept up in it. Also, being on the north side they're closer to the more high rent suburbs where people can afford tickets..and travel to see them play elsewhere.

And they've been around for forever, so generations of fans.
