Anyone else hate that the play-in games are considered the 1st round of NCAA?

Its a few play-in games. TODAY is the 1st round not the 2nd round (in my mind). I guess they're mentally grooming us for the field expansion.

Your mind is incorrect.

I don't think they're first round games anymore.

Edit: Nevermind, they still are.

Does anybody not hate it?

IMO it should be the prelims or play-in round, then first round today.

Here's the reasoning (guess it makes sense). I'm still mad tho

As recently as 1991, the NCAA has conducted play-in games (usually between champions of what were considered to be the weakest conferences[citation needed]) prior to the announcement of the brackets; the losers were not considered to have been in the tournament. Note that the losers of the current opening round game are still credited with a tournament appearance for purposes of sharing in the NCAA basketball contract revenues, while the winners receives a share for being in the round of 64.

That's how I am too. Just call them what they are, play-in games. I get they are the first round games for those 8 teams, but there's 60 other teams that have their first games in the next two days. I think 60 outweighs 8

It really sucks when you back and try to find how far a team went in the tournament and it says "second round" but yet never won a game. So stupid.

Why? ETA: Nm. I guess everyone has their pet peeves. Just seems silly to me.

I find it awkward to talk about opening round games as 2nd round. Im not really actually mad, just messing around. I just think its weird.

It's supposed to change for 2016 (round of 64 will be the 1st round)

I like it. You can go one and done and say you got to the second round.

Expand the field to 128 and move on. Make it either 64 or 128 not 68.
