We are witnessing greatness in the NBA right now. I've said it before, but I think Steph Curry is the most skilled basketball player of all-time. When the best shooter in the NBA has a better handle than Allen Iverson, that's a beautiful combination.

I wish 2000 Iverson would never age and play in the league forever.

He was totally fun to watch but he would be ripped to shreds by analytics.

I just loved watching him play.

He carried that team on his back to the Finals, analytics be damned!

Wow. That is some humble praise there from the Answer. I would put his handles right up there with anyone all time.

If he maintains his current level of play he'll have a case.

In any case I think AI's just being modest. He had incredible handles.

If you scared, just say you scared!

Seriously though, when you break down the "skills" of basketball, it ultimately comes down to three things.

Dribbling, passing, and shooting. Curry is absolutely elite at all three of those.

I know that post moves are a skill (related to shooting), but no big man will ever hold the title of most skilled just because of dribbling being a problem.

What highlights Curry's skill is that he doesn't have good size. He absolutely cannot over power a player. He is on the short end of NBA guards, and he is definitely on the skinny end. The guy just won the MVP award because of his incredible skill. Some people will throw Pistol Pete's name into the ring, and there are some good arguments, but his level of competition just wasn't even close to Curry's.

MICHAEL JORDAN? The greatest goddamn basketball player of time. The guy who would absolutely annihilate Curry in a 1v1 matchup.

Come on man.

What are we talking about here? Basketball skills. You're telling me that Steph has better skills than MJ.

I disagree, AI. When Curry carries a shitty team to the finals, let me know

Well now we're getting into a discussion of talent vs skill.

MJ's far more physically talented than Curry. No one would argue otherwise.

But one could easily make the argument that Curry's more skilled. There are many more basketball players that have more skill than MJ. But MJ's greatness came from a combination of skill and talent. When that's the comparison it's not really close.

MJ's talent just took him to places that Curry can't go, no matter how much he practices.

There is a difference between best player and most skilled player. Jordan has size, strength, quickness that can't be taught. These qualities make him a better basketball player than Curry, but I don't think he's nearly as skilled.

I think AI may have the best handles the NBA has ever seen.

LeBron carried a shitty team to the Finals and gets crushed for losing said Finals. Funny how that works....

Iverson was amazing. His performance in game 1 of the 2001 Finals against Prime Shaq and Kobe was ungodly. That was the only game the Lakers lost in that entire postseason. And yeah, that 76ers team was not very good outside of him.

Wasn't Snow the second best player on that team? How in the world did they get to the Finals?

Either him or Mutumbo. Either way, Iverson didn't have much help.
