Air resistance in the playoffs has shot up to the highest level since 2016, causing fewer homers. Multiple lines of evidence suggest that the postseason baseball is totally different than the one used in the regular season. - Rob Arthur

This is data coming from MLB's own pitch tracking system, and I confirmed it by looking at how many homers you would expect to see based on exit velocity+launch angle+park effects. There have been about *50%* fewer home runs than expected.

MLB may have been afraid of the juiced ball deciding a playoff series when what would have been a weak flyout went over the fence, but instead they've ended up with the opposite: hits we thought were certain dingers dying at the track instead.

Have the Cards made a deal with the actual Devil? One of the biggest advantages the Braves had was power entering the series and it was basically negated by MLB.

These are literal, quantifiable measures based on concrete data.

Conspiracy theory

You guys are something else. May be the dumbest fanbase in sports history and that’s saying something.

Immediately thought about the Twins, Dodgers, Stros and Braves.

Cardinals black magic is a thing. They found an old voodoo doll left behind by Tony LaRussa at the all-star break this year. From what I've heard it still smells of box wine.

Braves definitely hit a few warning track shots in St Louis. Is what it is.

Wouldn’t surprise me though.

Atlanta hit 39 more HRs than the Cards this year, or 1 extra HR every 4.15 games.

They played 5 games, and ATL hit 1 more HR than the Cards.

So basically, it was about as close to the exact same advantage they had in the regular season as could be based on a 5 game series.

If there's actual data to show the Braves came within a couple of feet of a HR a bunch more times than the Cards in the series, that would be valid, but it is not posted.

Will Smith hit a ball last night that would have been a game winner, I was shocked it wasn't a HR

Too bad for Kershaw they put out the wrong ball two times in that 8th inning.

What’s wild is Rendon’s crazy golf shot looked like it should be a routine fly out.

So who knows.

I thought for certain that Hechavarria has hit a grand slam in game 4 when it left his bat. You could tell Miller and Yadi did too.

I’ll make my decision how I feel about this after the Astros game tonight.

I definitely didn't think it was gone off the bat.

I didn't get to see every bit of action during the Cardinals-Braves series, but I know there were a couple of batted balls I thought were HRs that weren't. I think one was by Acuna and one was by Fowler.

And in a series where 4 of 5 games were decided by 1 run, that makes a difference.

ETA: 2 of 5, but still

Yeah I was gonna say that definitely looked like a “new ball” home run.

Soto’s could have been a freshly squeezed orange and gotten out.
