Someone break down the contract extension he signed recently please

Post June 1st cut, so the remainder of his signing bonus is accelerated into the Pats' 2014 cap. I saw someone on twitter that it's $10m, but I figure $8.9m ($12.5m signing bonus with 5 out of 7 years remaining). He had more in guarantees. I don't feel like trying to figure out which years had guaranteed money (usually it's early in the contract), but that would explain where that extra $1.1m came from. Paying $10m in one season to a guy that's not on the team will definitely hurt the Pats next season.

If a team signs him that will offset the salary he would make this year so Pats could be off the hook completely for his roughly $2.5 mil salary.

99% sure the NFLPA doesn't do this. Coaches contracts frequently have that in the event that they get released and get a job in broadcasting, but nothing for players.

Is it unknown the reason he was arrested? Is it obstruction of justice or possibly some degree of murder? It seems like the Pats wouldn't just release him because he was arrested for obstruction of justice.

Also, does it still affect their cap if he's released for legal trouble? I'm guessing there is some kind of stipulation in the contract that would make it void.

I'm sure a team like the Raiders will sign him tomorrow.

More importantly though, it's Tebow Time!!
